MSU will be pretty good but it has to be a team out of the east considering uga is the only real obstacle. With the bullseye on their back uga could slip up this year.

Yeah, I would not exactly call Uga, Bama or Auburn a "darkhorse" since any of those teams could do it and not shock anyone.

A dark horse to me would be Msu, Lsu or Usc.

Their spring game (yes, I know how everyone feels about spring games) was an absolute shite show. They don't have a QB and they could fall apart very quickly.

We haven't had a quarterback in like 9 years, it didn't stop us from drunkenly stumbling into the SEC Championship Game in 2015 and 2016.

I’d say some teams in the East are a tad bit stronger than they were in those years.

There are only 6 teams that have won since going to divisional play. Darkhorses don't win

actually, here is a website that shows the preseason predictions and actual orders of finish from 2006-2015
LINK

Based on these, here are some dark horses that have won the SEC:
2010: Auburn was picked to finish 3rd in the West
2013: Auburn picked to finish 5th in the West

In 2004, the media's favorites to win the SEC were Georiga (78) and LSU (71). Auburn received 14 votes
LINK /

In 2005, UGA was picked to finish 3rd in the East and received the 6th most votes to win the SEC.
LINK

In 2017, UGA received the 3rd most votes to win the SEC with just 6 to Auburn's 11 and Alabama's 217.
LINK

In 2001, LSU received the 4th most votes to win the SEC with 2, behind Florida (66), Tennessee (4), and Miss State (4)

Mississippi State

They have a better shot than Auburn does. But neither State or Auburn are winning it.

To win the SEC? I think Georgia would be a long shot. I just don't think anybody else even has a chance to win the SEC out of the East. South Carolina could win the East, though.

More to the OP's point, I would say it would have to be a team from the West.

SC’s offense will be light years better than the last two seasons when we had possibly the worst OC in Power 5 football.

shite all college football fans say

Look at the schedule and, right now, one could say the Cocks will be favored or close to a pickem in every game but UGA and Clem. If Cocks beat UGA at home it could be a 10-2 SC team with losses to only Clem and some other SEC team.

This could happen, but then USCe would still have to actually win the SECCG at a neutral site against a team that is likely far more talented.

The bottom feeders of the West might beat one out of Bama, Auburn, and LSU, but they sure as hell can't beat more than one of them in the same season.

Unh, hunh, yeah, I'm sure that has never, ever happened before. Except that just a few years ago... all three got beat by "bottom feeder" West teams. Hell Arkansas knocked off Auburn and LSU the same year we lost to Toledo.

1. This isn't 2015 or 2016
2. You don't have the same surrounding cast. Almost all of Muschamp's guys are gone.

I'll agree we have some questionable posters on this board. But to their credit they do a really good job of living rent free in your head. You bite on everything they throw out and comment in seemingly every thread where State is mentioned.

I understand you haven't seen Arkansas beat MSU in a relevant sport since 3/19/17, but damn, you take salty to a new level.

no way florida makes a run. Their schedule is pretty rough starting with Miss state.

They play
@Tennessee
@Miss state
LSU
@UGA
USC
FSU

Very doubtful they win 4 of those games much less 5 or 6 to make that run. That is a pretty tough stretch without a legit QB.Tennessee is really the only game I expect them to be favored in when that stretch rolls around.

It is a good question, I think.

I don't really have much of a guess, except that if any dark horse wins, it will probably be from the East. Outside of GA, it seems like a jump ball. If one of those other teams can get to the SECCG, I could see it.

I have not really looked at the SEC schedules, which has the most favorable match ups? I read SC hosts GA, so that is pretty significant.

Florida because of the talent and new coaching staff. Out side of the 3 teams named Florida is one of the top teams talent and coaching wise .
