None of those can come close to the 1969 Texas game. A book was written about it called Hogs, Horns and Nixon coming.

Heck, in '65 using '64 voting rules, we would've repeated. But '64 changed how voting was done. Another one ripped from our hearts.

Florida streaks

Most all the Florida games from around 2015-2019 were brutal. From UF not getting delay of game on the field goal, to leaving receivers uncovered, to getting a penalty pushing out of FG range. The true statement of if something can go wrong, it will.

*Heck if not for us Feleipe Franks would have still started over Trask. Knocked Franks out of the game and the rest was history for him

For basketball, the undefeated team losing to Wisconsin was unimaginable. A lot of people haven't gotten over that and blame that loss as the turning point for Cals tenure

Hell, that wasn't even the worst no-call of that game. David Irons (I believe) interference in the end zone at the end of the 1st half forcing LSU to kick the FG was a more egregious example of pass interference. It's funny hearing the announcers' in game comments on it NOW, but it wasn't so funny at the time.

I wouldn't feel good about claiming a title in 65 with the bowl being a loss.

Arkansas would have a better argument of claiming 77 than 65.

1975 A&M loss to Arkansas

Let me set the stage. The week before A&M beats tu. Go to Arkansas number 2 in the nation and get beaten like drum 31-6.

Ole Miss

The list would be so long it would kill Chicken’s hamsters to load the whole thing

Yeah, no question it is us. Between losing somewhere in the neighborhood of 38 super regionals and Treadwell snapping his ankle in the end zone ending the season we could have been national title contenders definitely stings.

The easy answer is Ole Miss...our list is so bad that a phrase was actually coined in honor...WAOM.

For me personally, the worst is 2003 against LSU in Oxford...so much on the line but we just couldn't get it done...LSU's defense was just too good. I remember leaving that stadium trying to protect my dad from a very drunk, frustrated, cursing Ole Miss crowd. That one was ugly, Our own fans turned on each other that night. Seeing the pain in my dad's face was the worst part. Gut wrenching. Neauseating. Pain.

I’ll add

2018 SECCG
2002 Florida
2007 South Carolina

All three winnable games we just fricked up and all made worse by the fact that we could have won the natty had we won these games too

Since it hasn't been mentioned I'll throw out 2014 Arkansas-Alabama. Arkansas lost 14-13 on a missed extra point and had an easy TD erased on a fumble through the endzone right as he was about to walk in for the go-ahead score. Our defense actually held Derrick Henry and TJ Yeldon to 2.1 YPC that night.

One of the more frustrating games I've watched, but Bielema had a lot of those close heartbreaking losses where we competed all game and somehow came up short late.

2005 LSU we missed 5 FGs

This was unbelievable!!! LSU could have left the playing field and Auburn could have lined up at the 2 yard line for a 20 yard FG with a 25 mph wind at their back and still miss the FG.

Definitely Arkansas since they're one of the few schools that actually cares about baseball. Then you throw in the Stoernover and that puts them over the top. And the end of that Sugar Bowl against Ohio St.

Going into this game it was really looking good for LSU to finally be in the National Championship picture after 45 years. This game felt HUGE pre-game.

You had the pregame vignette with Johnny talking about how Billy Cannon cost Ole Miss a title and hadn't won the SEC in forever.

Verne Lundquist said "it's goosebump time, in Oxford, MS." Then the old CBS graphic aired. They panned over The Vaught just going nuts as Ole Miss ran out.

Then LSU ran out and all you heard was BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I remember soaking in that hatred and loving every second of it. I was SO fired up to be hated that badly. I had not been able to experience that as an LSU fan up to that point.

If that never happened, Nutt would still have found a way to lose in the end.

Heartache for sure. But the others we ripped defeat from the jaws of victory.
