I guess its just a matter of preference. I prefer to win a national title. Given the two options I listed, only one choice allows that. To me this is a very easy choice, I'm very surprised that fans would feel differently. Learn something new everyday.
At the beginning of the conversation, the Bama poster said LSU will never lose the shame of losing on jan 9th.
I responded by saying , ULM loss and Utah loss was more shameful, WHICH THEY ARE) an Bama has done fine.
Not which game would you WANT TO LOSE. Which is more shameful. Of course I would rather lose a reg season game over the national title, but that wasn't the point. The point was which loss is more shameful. ULM and Utah loss is more shameful. That's the point.

Option A - LSU loses to ULM last year, it would of led to insignificant games and no bowl, like you said.
Option B - LSU loses in the title game, our name is still in the mix of elite football tams with a great chance of winning all next year.
I'll take B
Teams can bounce back from embarrassing losses bowl games, you know? Ask 2008 Bama

I lived in Decatur, Al for 2 years and have met some great Bama fans. I respect Bama's tradition and the fact that they put southern championship football on the map, but some of the posters on here make it hard to pull for Bama. Entitlement is astounding
I understand. I think a lot of Bama fans are jumping the gun and assuming that we are going to dominate college football like we did under the Bear. I think that is why a lot of Bama fans think we are 10,000x greater than every other SEC school right now. I think we do have a chance to become the best football program in the BCS era because of what Saban has done and is continuing to do. But I'm going to wait 3-5 more years before I start saying "Dynasty". I think a lot of Bama fans just realize that our success is not coming to an end like Florida's run did. I think they are just looking ahead. If we don't win the SEC this year and a BCS bowl then our run is no more impressive than Florida's. (Unless of course we win it the next year or the year after that etc.)

Right.
Losing to ULM is worse than losing to a great Bama team in the title game. That's what I was saying.
Not that I'd rather lose in a title game than a reg season game.

LSU loses to ULM last year,
Bama lost the ULM in a barely .500 season, nothing was on the line except pride.
If Bama gets embarrassed on 1/9, then they lose the National Title. Everything in on the line.
I'm done, bored now... to each his own.

1. LSU - 2 national titles, 4 SEC titles
2. UF - 2 national titles, 3 SEC titles
3. Bama - 2 national titles, 1 SEC title
2. UF - 2 national titles, 3 SEC titles
3. Bama - 2 national titles, 1 SEC title

Who were the 2 best teams in 2007?
I guess LSU losing to Kentucky, yeah Kentucky, and Arkansas makes them one of the two best.
Luckily you guys started out the preseason ranked #3 or those losses would have kept you out of the NC game.

1/9 wasn't as demoralizing as Bammers would like to think. We still beat ya'll in your own stadium with no QB. Les and Nick are 3-3, you guys got even in the title, congrats. Bama backing into the title will come back around to haunt them just like it did to LSU last year.

So if you agree that LSU is one of the 2 best teams in the nation, then they belonged in the title game. So I don't see the problem.

This is a thread thats asks a question that cant be answered...its all opinion. Sure...UF has dropped off the past two years.....but look at LSU in 2008....everyone in the SEC was gangbanging them...I do recall a woodshed beating. There was no coaching change or other shite to blame it on. In 2007 Timmy came into your house and nearly beat that tiger azz...even though we only had 2 starters back from a loaded defense in 2006 that took tOSU behind that same woodshed.
So I am going to be real objective and say UF has had the best program since 2000...we won the SEC in 2000 and had a very very good team in 2001, but rb injuries kept us from beating UT and they deserved the win. 2002-2004 we had Ron Zook and a one year hiatus while Meyer instituted the spread offense ill suited for Chris Leak but well suited in 2006 for Tim Tebow. We went undefeated in 2009 in the regular season but our offense had lost too many play makers from '08 and we ran into a buzzsaw with Bama in the SECCG. Since then we have had one year with an absent coach and one under Boom that was a purge of deadwood. We played with 68 scholly players and here is some that left program:
Janoris Jenkins cb who would have been a 1st rounder if he had his head straight...Boom kicked him off the team
Recruit rb Blakey was allowed out of his LOI and he went to AU.
Robert Clark soph wr gone
Chris Dunkley highly recruited wr gone
Dee Finley jr LB gone
Chris Martin a r/s frosh transfer from Pac 10 and a very good LB/DE gone
Michael Macfarland TE r/s frosh gone
Javares McRoy frosh recruit wr gone to Texas Tech
Joshua Shaw bigtime soph recruit of Meyers gone
Lynden Trail rs/frosh DE transfered out
Probably one more that I missed. So, go ahead and take us lightly in 2012 and it will be a mistake imho. Ten starters return on defense, four starters on OL.
Some of you posters are probably 18 or 19 and dont really understand the power that UF had over the SEC since 1990 with only a few breaks. Well, break time is over.

I just gonna throw this out there. What state has the trophy been the last three years?
Carry on.

Sure they were the 2nd best team in college football, but so was LSU in 07. Everyone thinks LSU backed into the title in 07, and as far as I'm concerned Bama did to.

If only teams like ULM and Tulane could get a Cam and Fairley.

Florida:
3 SEC Titles
2 National Titles
4 BCS Bowl wins
7 Bowl wins
6 top 10's
4 top 5's
115-41 record (LSU 123-34)
I think LSU comes out ahead by a nose. The Zook era just killed Florida.

There should never be a LSU fan or Bama fan dogging the other over backing into the title game. Both programs did it. 07and 2011
