He looked like a deer in headlights against FSU.

That is understandable. In the very first start of his career he had to run and dodge Florida State trucks all game long.

It's Arch. After rewatching film from last year, he was far worse than I'd realized. It's not only decision making either, everything is bad. Mechanics, footwork, accuracy, release time, touch, pocket awareness/presence, it's all missing. He's decent at making progressions, but misses post-snap reads regularly. He has great size and +athleticism, but is somewhat of a clumsy runner as well. And I don't think it's correctable, there's way too many things missing here. He'll be protected with easy reads/friendly play calling against lesser opponents, but this kid is likely going down as the biggest bust in history. Honestly from the film I saw, he's just not a high level D1 qb. Even calling him a bust might be wrong, the potential was never there. Even his arm strength is smoke and mirrors, 100% reliant upon his legs to drive the ball

It's just weird how this could happen through the scouting process and get this far. Do the Manning's have EVERYONE involved with football by the balls?

He legitimately threw 5 passes that should have been ints vs UL Monroe in the 1st half last year and 5 more that were wide open TD's blatantly over/under thrown. The announcers did an excellent job of covering for his poor play, that game may have been the worst I've ever seen a qb play

Simpson did fine but I thought he had more running ability than he showed

Simpson actually looks like a QB, Manning looked timid, uncertain and had the arm strength of an average mid tier college QB. He couldnt push the ball down field at all. Just soft.

Both played pretty bad. One has some tools.

Carr and unfortunately Underwood looked the best of the young guys getting their first start

Does Alabama have a situation on their hands this year that Texas had last year where the outside thinks the backup QB could be better until he proves exactly why he was the backup QB all along?

But last year the Bammers were calling for Simpson over Milroe LOL.

Taylen Green not even given odds (that I've see anyway) for the Heisman but had he been under/behind center for Texas on Saturday, Texas would still be ranked #1.

I’m sure Manning will come good. That’s a pretty brutal opener. He’s definitely in a better situation than Simpson who’s got teammates that think that effort is optional

I think we now know why Archie was being a bit coy when asked about Arch's plans after this year. Deep down they know Arch is not as hyped/advertised thus there will be zero NFL interest. Best to hang around Texas and take his NIL money.

Not sure the balance of this season or the next will fix his problem(s), which appear to arise from sheer lack of talent.

I would still take Simpson over Milroe. Simpson didnt give the game away like Milroe was prone to do. This was Simpsons first start it took Milroe 3-4 games to even soldify his starting role because he was pretty bad.

I actually didn’t think Simpson was horrible. His coaches and teammates did him no favors.

They totally abandoned the run and his star wr hasn’t been able catch shite since the UGA game last year.

I thought Simpson was fine too. I think Ryan Williams also had a concussion before the last hit that took him out.

Not running was wild. Kevin Riley was averaging the most yards (6.2) but only had 5 attempts. All the attempts for him were in the only 2 TD drives.

Clearly Manning is better than Bart. But his sister, Lisa? Close.

Week 4 @ UGA, as that is surely another humbling loss for Kaitlyn & Co.

I hope so, but they have had our number for awhile now, so I'll believe it when I see it.
