Italian can be in some cases like pizza in that oftentimes when it's shitty it's still good.

But bad Cajun is CRAP.

Good Cajun food though? Like an Alligator Sauce Piquant? Or Corn Maque Choux? A good Shrimp or Crab Bisque?

Untouchable, m'frien......

Born in Tampa with a huge Sicilian population and later a large Cuban population...also have lived in Jefferson Parrish and NYC etc etc...so have had about everything. Cuban food is great, real Sicilian (not mainland but Sicilian dishes) is also great food...also ditto for cajun and I have weakness for shrimp po boys, softshell crab po boys, oyster po boys...along with red beans and rice..etc etc. The best meatball sub I ever had was in the old part of Jefferson called Fat City which I understand has been mostly razed...but man o man...this place had meatball subs that were out of this world...didnt even open til late at night since the sandwich shop was affixed to a nightclub.

To answer question....definitely cajun food if you are in La. Deannies or however you spell it just over the border of Orleans into Jefferson is a great place that locals go to...worth the stop. Its on Lake Av as I recall.

Italian food is the correct answer. Unless you like eating the bugs that Cajun food is filled with.

You'd jizz in your pants for 5 pounds of perfectly seasoned boiled Louisiana crawfish. Best bugs on earth

Be careful with the cajun food. Eat too much of it and you'll start talking funny like them.

That "garbage" is probably some of America's best food and brings in a shite ton of money. I'm sure you've eaten much much worse.

There are classier ways of saying you don't care for something.

Like there's a classier way for me to tell you I disagree with your uninformed take besides just telling you...

frick you.

Why do you think its garbage? Just because its low quality mud bug meat boiled in a variety of really strong spices to mask the foulness of the product or shoved in a variety of other fried dishes.

I wonder why fried lobster has never caught on.

There's another Deanies on Iberville, just off of Bourbon and oposite of Acme Oyster from Bourbon. Huge entrees. I actually am more of a fan of Felixes(right across from Acme) and their blackened gator. We pretty much hit up Middendorf's each time we head to the New Orleans area.

For a one-time deal, cajun.

If you're going to eat a lot of it, Italian.

Extremely overrated, IMO.

And to the OP, if you're in south Louisiana, go with the local cajun/creole cuisine. Guarantee you won't regret it.
