Why does it have to be certain years now? Y'all will change every faucet of the argument to make TM look b

Because TM7 only played 2 years, his true freshman and sophomore years. How can you compare a guy who played 4 years with his JR and SR stats equally to a guy who only played 2 years, which were his FR and Soph seasons.

Their roles were exactly the same? Not. Javy was a cover corner while TM7 was a corner blitz specialist. This is what I meant.

Javy - in 2 yrs 14.5 TFL 8 QB hurries 7 Sacks
TM - in 2 yrs 16 TFL 4 QB hurries 6 Sacks

Oh. Ok.

Eh, debatable. IMO Arenas was the better cover corner by far.

Arenas didn't even start his soph year at Bama. TM7 was an Unanimous first team All-American CB and Bednarik Award winner.

Damn, you Bama fans are freaking dense.

Yeah by the end of his career at Alabama Arenas was a good cover corner.

In his sophomore season, he didn't even start. Also, reading his bio on rolltide.com, it does not mention the word "interception" under his 2007 campaign ... meaning Arenas didn't create ANY turnovers as a sophomore. Furthermore, he had only ONE pass breakup as a sophomore.

As a sophomore, Arenas was a really good punt returner and a decent CB.

As a sophomore, Mathieu was one of the best all around players in CFB.

So no....they don't compare.

He played yr 1 as a backup RB, never played DB in his life. Yr 2 was not a starting DB and his first yr at that position ever.

Why don't you use the last two yrs of each as starters at their position? TM arguably has the edge, as Lsu had more talent supporting him and he had played that position for a longer amount of time.

Funny. You should tell me how a RB is going to get INT's.

Who gives a shite, we're comparing players who don't even play for their respective teams anymore..do the years really matter?

So Javy was not a cover corner? Ok thanks my bad. I am not as up on old Bama players as you obviously are. It's a shame you guys had to come in this thread and frick it all up by making it a Javy vs TM7 thread instead of the intent of the OP who was merely appreciating an exciting player who wil be missed.

sad.

They simply cannot stand that The LEGEND of Honey Badger will always be more than Jabvier "forget-me -not" Arenas.. and he did it in just two short years.

You're cute when you say stuff that doesn't matter.

Whether he started or not, he was STILL better in coverage.

Thanks for the laugh though.

Because that would be a gd travesty. Yeah, let's give Arenas a two-year head start on development...no big deal.

BTW...Mathieu played a different position in HS, too.

The op didn't state that. He was cumguzzling Lsu fan's in "greatness" talk about a player who followed the footsteps of someone who did as good a job, or better in many respects.

Not really. One pass breakup. No INTs.

Where is your evidence? I doubt you even remember the 2007 season, frankly.
