Wow, that blue belt running through the Deep South is potent for good players.

OU has that sweet sweet Cali pipeline, also a truly national recruiting program.

The data would be more interesting if it only included scholarship players. UGA has about 28 scholarship players who played high school football in a state other than Georgia. Total is 84 or 85 I believe, so 56 or 57 scholarship players from the state of Georgia.

Serious question ..... are there two smaller states that produce more great athletes, year-in and year-out, I'm talking football, basketball, baseball and track ... than Alabama and South Carolina.

Roughly 4 million total population but either state can go head-to-head per capita with anybody when it comes to athletes they put in the SEC, ACC and NFL.

Not sure about the "smaller state" description but
Florida,Georgia and Louisiana all have a higher percentage
of players recruited.

I HIGHLY doubt the either state produces more MLB talent per capita or not than Georgia.East Cobb baseball alone has produced dozens of of pro baseball players

I think it is like 10 or 15 preferred walk ons.

Hope scholarship makes the regular walk on program a winning program at uga.

It would be very interesting if teams could only recruit in state players.

We've had Hope for quite some time...don't think CMR
had as many as 33 walk ons on his teams but could be wrong. I also don't recall all that many walk ons making much of an impact over the years.

Bama has players from 23 states
OKL from 19 states
UGA from 17 states
CU from 16 states

The concentration of talent definitely runs through the black belt though.

Well... they practice with the team. I'm not sure what type of impact you are looking for other than extra bodies in practice.

I've read that we have 33 seniors right now. I think it breaks down to 10 scholarship seniors, redshirts from 2013, and the rest are walkons.

Alabama recruits more nationally than Oklahoma.
