And guys like Walkers weren't?

He benefits from the system he plays in but come on dude. Above average at best? Tre will never get his due on this board and it's amazing. The guy had 1000 yards on a 3-9 team that had absolutely nothing outside of him on offense at all. And that's not a hyperbole, he really was the only thing the entire season of 2012 that was even remotely decent on offense.

The lower body strength he has combined with his small size reminds me a lot of Ray Rice. He's just so damned hard to bring down and he's actually got some good moves he can break out in the open field.

explain how the hell YPC is product of an offense

Players in option or read-option offenses often have higher yards per carry than their counterparts in power or zone running schemes.

Disclaimer: Tre had an awesome season.

Sorry but running right up the middle is not on an offensive scheme

Yes it is. The way option offenses work changes the way defenses play the run up the middle. It's not apples to apples.

Don't think any of those other guys tried to hide the ball before thy ran with it though. Hard not to gain yards when 1/2 the defense still thinks the QB is running around the end.

That's fine and all, but Tre Mason averaged 5.8 YPC in 2011, 5.9 YPC in 2012 (LOL at the offense), and 5.7 YPC this year.

Three different offenses.

Half the defense may be confused as to where the ball is, but seeing as our passing game wasn't very good, usually the defense had eight in the box.

I'd love to know how many yards Tre had after contact. Had to be a ton.

If by 1/2 the defense you mean the defensive end and a linebacker.

I believe in you...you can do math...it's in the OP

1816/x = 5.7

solve for x

Jeremy Hill was better. 80 less carries than Mason was the difference.

Jeremy Hill's a beast, but he's not better than Tre Mason.

If y'all really think that Tre Mason would have averaged nearly six yards per carry in the offense that Herschel Walker ran at Georgia, there's no point in continuing this discussion. We are not ever going to agree on that.

Jeremy Hill ran for 1401 yards on only 203 carries. 6.9 yards a carry
Played in two less games

You feed him the ball 317 times and he's over 2,100 yards. DAMN

HILL > MASON

Hill was almost never required to be a workhorse. Mason was at times.

I like it though, we definitely maximize the potential of our RBs and keep fresh legs out there.

Hill + Fournette next year is going to be LOLscary.

or, if you're feeding Hill as much as Auburn fed Mason, they will stack the box all season like they did to Mason, and Hill won't have the same YPC

Difference is you have a passing game
