Is there a single player who starts for UGA that would start for Alabama that's not a kicker?

Deandre Baker, for sure.
A TE, maybe? But I don't know anything about Alabama's TE's, so I hesitate to say that. Thomas at LT, maybe? I know Alabama's OLine is very, very good, but Thomas is a possible All SEC and maybe All American?

Hey, no doubt, Alabama has more talent. I'm not sure how much is head and shoulders better....but I haven't really watched much Alabama football. Avoiding watching them was my way of staying optimistic.

It pretty much is.
ETA
Abysmal may be too strong a word...but it is pretty bad if a team wants to win.

On the 2018 Auburn running scale, it's actually pretty impressive

Good point. Before the season started most agreed they would be as good as their OLine allowed them to be. Many Aubbies kept saying the one thing they could count on was the running game, and to a certain extent I agreed with that. but....wow. It really got bad in a hurry. And their OLine recruiting hasn't gotten any better. It will get uglier before it gets better, unless they can pull a recruiting coup out of thin air this year.

Yea, I thought it would be average, but I never imagined a Gus team would be totally unable to run the football.

UGA hasn't faced a QB as good as Tua. But it goes both ways.

If you’re saying we’re the best pass defense Tua’s faced I disagree. LSU is better, and maybe State as well.

But I don't know anything about Alabama's TE's,

Hentges is the classic blocker who catches the rare pass kind of TE.
Smith is the opposite. He's an elite pass-catching TE, and a decent blocker. He has 35 catches for 613 yards and 7 TD's.

Take away Stidham's negative rushing yards, and they finished with 138 yards on 37 rushes. That is a 3.7 yd/att average, which is about as good as it gets against Alabama.

In the first half they had success rushing the ball in several drives, and then they would inexplicably try to pass the ball on the first two downs with no success.

Just my opinion...but Gus seems to recruit an awful lot of Guard type OLinemen then try to make them fit as OT's. Their Oline just seems like a bunch of linemen that is thrown out there as if there is no difference in playing the various positions. It's a mess right now. nothing but guards on the team and nothing but very low ranked Tackles and guards coming in.

Alabama has faced better secondaries already.

Seems very similar to ours. Nauta catches the passes and the others block. Although, in his defense, I think Nauta's blocking has improved a lot this year.

UGA has the revenge factor. This has Bama/UF 2009 written all over it.

Which includes Malik Willis running for 18 yards on 3 carries down 31 points on the last drive of the game.

Their longest run of the game was 9 yards. They did a nice job avoiding TFLs, but they were getting 1-3 yards on most carries.

After 3 qtrs, when the score was 38-21, Auburn had 62 rush yards on 25 carries for 2.5 YPC. Take out Stidham and they had 79 rush yards on 22 carries for 3.6 YPC. They had decent success, but not enough to just go with it for the whole game.

There was zero shot they were just going to keep running the ball and getting 2-3 yards every carry and score enough points to win that game. Gus actually played to win for 3 quarters before shutting it down in the 4th. He know they had to catch us guessing and make some big plays down field to have any shot.

Except Alabama was ranked #2 in 2009...the talent was there for Alabama in 2009. We have the talent, but just don't have the experience. The lack of experience is what will get us.

That is my biggest fear. However, this program ain't Florida 2009 and Saban ain't Urban 2009, so that makes me feel a bit better.

The more I think about it the more I see this as Alabama/Florida 2008 and next year being the possible 2009 moment. This year Georgia is very good but slightly below us basically across the board (much like Bama/UF in 2008). 2009 they will have all those 5-star classes mature with a young one coming in and be basically our equal talent wise (generally).

I agree with the 1st part, but not the 2nd part.

State's combination of DL + athletic back 7 was the best we've played all year. They had the recipe to cause the most problems (and did). LSU's defensive front is similar to Georgia's and their secondary is better.

Georgia's is clearly #3, IMHO.

Couldn't find those stats, but assuming you are right, you win this one.

To my eyes, watching the game with some Auburn family members, it seemed like Auburn was finding success running the ball in the first half, but maybe that was one or two isolated drives.
