It'll never happen, there are five automatic "no" votes if Texas joining were ever realistically considered.

Once they join us, they will change. Don't judge them just yet. They could/wlll be GREAT addition to an already GREAT conference. I would love to compete against those guys.
You are either high or retarded.

not just "no"....but
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR EVERLOVING MIND!!!! HELL NEAUX!!!!!
in the global scope of things, they don't expand the league footprint and who wants to put up with their arrogance and sense of entitlement...
let them ride into the sunset on the glue-factory nag known as the longhorn network

No one with an ounce of sense would want either school. They bring nothing but sub-par media markets (in OU's case) and off-the-charts arrogant douche-baggery (on the part of Texas.) Texas kills conferences and OU enables them.
You are very wise. That must be experience talking.

Everyone knows that Oklahoma is a Texas lap dog. Boren is co - chancellor withe the Texas man. Okies are tied to their across state little brothers. Better off letting this mess of teams fend for theirselves.
Teams needed to increase SEC footprint are from Virginia and North Carolina.

What does that even mean? We didn't have a single no vote for a&m. The only vote that wasn't a yes was vandy abstaining

Hopefully UTjr and OK never join the sec.

OP do you really want to watch big mouth Bob Stoops on the SEC network?
And why bring in Texas? A&M already has a higher TV rating than the Longhorns even in freakin Austin.
Do you really want to invite Longhorn snobs that think southerners are mongoloid cousin frickers to the SEC?

Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and Texas A&M all left the Big 12 at least partially because of Texas. I don't think Texas could ruin the SEC, however their way of thinking about conference affiliation is not the same as the SEC schools. I know the competition is heated, but at the President level at least the SEC for the most part appears to be unified. In contrast University Texas has a street named after it...one way. It is their way or the highway, and that is exactly the path four former Big 12 schools took to get away from that school.

Definately not Texas. These guys put new meaning into arrogance and self interest.
They see a conference as "mouths to feed". They turn the word entitlement around. They see members as trying to be entitled, yet they truly believed they are, and should be entitled.
They lead by self interest. This is what killed SWC and Big 12. Their behavior encouraged the rest of the members to do the same. Those that didn't are now in a non-Power conference.

There's this thing called money. To make more you need new markets.
Schools from North Carolina and Virginia make most sense if you are talking expansion. Maryland would have been another possibility before B1G took them.

Never. Texas wants to rule. 4 team playoff (and future 8 team way down the line) lines up with OK's philosophy: Beat one or two good teams in a cheap conference, blow out the rest, finish #3 or 4 and on to the playoff. They do not want SEC West.

texas is a conference killer - just look at the SWC and the B12
How did Texas "kill" the Southwest Conference?
I wouldn't quite classify the Big 12 as dead, in the literal sense. For the record, I tend to blame Missouri for the exodus from the Big 12 a few years ago. Them, and the Mothershuckers, who voted for unequal revenue distribution as well as single-school networks, but got their panties in a wad when they found themselves on the short end of that stick because their football program went into the shitter.

At what point does expansion/money become self defeating? Sure, you enlarge the footprint and make more money. However the schedule is tougher and the chances of winning a title go down.
So what good is money if it comes at the expense of an extra loss or two?

thats precisely my point. nobody really supported adding either of you. then the sec trotted out the $ train and all the guys with votes fell in love with it. done deal. it never made sense to fans and still doesnt. its just an odd, out of place feel to it.

Standing O for Texas coach charlie strong.
He will either turn the LOngwhorns around or is a secret Razorback plant to destroy their football program. In both case, he will make his home state proud but more proud if he destroys the texas football program and gets paid millions in the process.

Sometimes I simply don't understand where some of you dumbasses come up with your shite.
First of all, TAMU had been flirting with the SEC off and on since the 1980s. If the truth were known, we wanted, and were wanted , to come with Arkansas. Second, when the SWC imploded, we were not headed to the XII, we were headed to the SEC. LSU was going to sponsor us. Both of these attempts for us to move were blocked by Texas politics that we did not control.
Thirdly, when Nebraska left the XII, we knew our time had finally come. We had an Aggie Governor and knew we had to wait a year for the Legislative Session to end. We did and we came. I assure you it was not without struggle in the political scene in Texas.
So, our move was about 25 years in the making. We are finally home. I'm sorry you don't like it. Why don't you just go home, clean the trailer, have a cig, and chill out?
