As for Spring Football... I dunno. If we get a run of COVID cases somewhere we might have to skip that.

My guess, and it is a guess, is that things will be semi back to normal by the middle of May and that we will see spring football then.

Or, to put it this way, if things are going so poorly we aren't doing spring football by the middle of May than none of us are going to care because we'll be well and truly up that creek you don't want to be on without a paddle.

Spring football in the middle or end of May, summer practices and the season starts when it should. If we get a resurgence of COVID in the fall, which could happen, then all bets are off but as of right now I think we just need to hold tight for another 5 weeks or so.

It'll be much sooner than that. The country will be open for business again by late-April at the very latest.

College football will happen this year.

It would be great if you're right, however, I think you're way off. It's not even close to peaking yet. The numbers increase every day.

I’m afraid the numbers will drop during the summer only to spike during fall and winter. There may go our football season.

That's my fear too.

Come on, vaccine. I swear at this moment, you mean everything.

I think there will be too many hotspots across the country that local health officials will shut down certain cities which ultimately will force everything to be cancelled.

We'll agree to disagree on that one.

I think it will be June before we get a handle on this, at least to the point things can start going back to normal

The big caveat is if infections continue to pop up even after the big surge we are at the front end of now is suppressed. Hopefully we pull our heads out of our asses by then and have an effective testing regime + some sort of antiviral treatment (vaccine won’t be here till spring of 2021 at best). If that’s the case then we can manage this thing without massive social distancing. If not, then at best you will have football in front of no fans.

You know that even after a vaccine is developed, the clinical trial phase lasts at least twelve months before it can be used en masse like a flu vaccine, right?

People need to get their mind around the very real possibility that there won’t be football, and then just be pleasantly surprised and more appreciative of it if there is.

we are 8-10weeks out from a peak, and then the down turn will still be a month.

8 weeks minimum, plus 4 towards normalcy. End of June prior to cleaning this mess up a bit.

But then comes wave 2 right? I read yesterday that it is happening in some countries.

Well of course, there will be “waves” until we develop a vaccine or at the very least find a treatment. All we are trying to do by “flattening the curve” is to buy time for that vaccine in 12-18 months without overwhelming our medical systems before then.

If a viable vaccine is developed, I fully expect Trump to do everything he can to circumvent the traditional trial period to get it distributed ASAP. For better or for worse.
