That is the one thing that has struck me about the Bonfire tragedy--that 12 people passed, given how 12 is such an important number in A&M lore.

Belltowers shouldnt count because nearly every university has em. Most are hard to distinguish from one another.

More beans have been touched in that building than all of the crop land in the Midwest.

The Brick wall was originally designed to keep students inside the campus and away from the local ale houses, but it actually served to prevent the campus from burning along with the rest of the city when Sherman marched through Columbia.
do you really think a 5ft fence kept out the Union Army? the reason USC was spared on Sherman's march was that it was the Union Headquarters. the officers including Sherman stayed in the residence colleges and the McKissick Bld was a hospital.

I think it's better to tell people that students stood behind a 5 foot brick wall with flintlocks and pitchforks to defend their beloved University from an invading army.

Yeah, that part is a little eerie.
Bonfire Memorial is the most sobering place on campus, by far.

UA > UGA
13 floors of whores > 9 floors of whores.
Fact.

No, but when you set the city on fire, it tends to spread outwards in every direction. The brick wall prevented the fire from spreading, not the army from occupying the city.

Some of the more recognizable buildings and areas of LSU's campus (other than Memorial Tower):
Paul M. Hebert Law Center
The Quad
The Greek Theater with the Enchanted Forest in the background
The lakes and sorority row
Indian Mounds
