Biggest games for us are the early ones.

Texas Tech in Houston and Alabama in Oxford, if we manage to win one of those I'll be very happy.

I'm a firm believer in the old cliche "one game at a time" and your first game is your most important game ... but, honestly, it's our second game at home against UGA in the SEC league season opener that will decide whether we simply have another good season or potentially a great season.

UGA fans may not wanna admit it but the same game should be very very important for them as well.

I fully expect it to be a good olf fashioned smash mouth slug it out Carolina-Georgia border war.

To be fair the scheduled Troy for homecoming last year.

Homecoming is generally in the 2nd half of the season

Options were UGA, State, Alabama, or Rice.

Stupid to give any motivation to UGA and Alabama.

Rice is in week 12.

MSU was the only feasible option.

The first game against Miami to start the year could set the tone for LSU and Miami for the rest of the year but if LSU loses they still have everything in front of them. I think the third game at Auburn could be the biggest one because it’ll tell everyone how good LSU will be for the rest of the season and that game would propel LSU. Georgia in the middle of the year at home is another one because a win there would be huge and then obviously the annual meeting against Bama in November. Any of those four games

not sure why we wouldn't admit it, it's pretty obvious IMO. I don't think there's anyone on our 2018 regular season more talented than us, and after SC I'm not truly "worried" about anyone until Auburn although I feel good abotu that one.

That leaves SC in week 2 on the road, which has always been tough for us. 2016 was our first win there in a while and even that one was too close for comfort at the tail end. We haven't won comfortably there since 2006. And as always SC will place a VERY high emphasis on this game. Not saying our team won't of course, but this one always seems to mean a little more to SC being we're their 2nd biggest rival.

If we get by SC I'm feeling great about the east. If we slip up it could be a long season.

If you *could* beat Alabama, then TT should be a foregone conclusion.

Yes, I don’t get this as a big deal.

Occasionally the calendar and schedule do not work well when it comes to Homecoming.
Typically teams like to schedule a cream puff because of the distractions it causes but that is not always possible.

One truth about State-LSU. The last four years have shown that this is no longer an automatic win for LSU. This year appears to be another battle in the making as well.

Our primary rival South Carolina

I guess that's irony.

Thing is... we two are about as far apart as two schools can get in the SEC (Florida is further? Not going to find some site with mileage estimator).

South Carolina students will never attend a road game en masse at A&M. Our student base just isn't well heeled enough to casually book flights and get hotel rooms for something like that.

In another time period I remember lots of people loading up for trips to Georgia, the North Carolina schools, etc. But the long and short is I doubt either school has many fans showing up for road games in the series.

Our fan bases do not have any interaction. I'm sure there are some South Carolina alums in Houston and Dallas, but no where near as many as Atlanta or Charlotte.

Meh, I know there are some longstanding rivalries in the SEC, but I think another school would have been a better fit to be your east rival.

LSU is always bitching about playing Florida (and vice versa some years). Maybe you guys should have gotten Florida and we could get LSU. Tough matchup, but it is closer, and you can always sell the chance to get drunk on Bourbon Street to undergrads (well you could have sold me).

Oh yeah, Georgia is the biggest game next year. Only team besides Clemson I think will have unquestionably better athletes than us (not going to include A&M in that until we see what Fisher does with those guys), for a year or so at least.

Georgia's roster does seem more stacked than Clemson's even at this point, but most of that talent is sophomore and below I'd guess.

I more meant that to say I don't expect to beat either, so if we beat TT I'll be happy.

I could definitely see us losing to South Carolina. Early season in a hostile environment with a veteran quarterback against a young defense. It's the classic recipe for disaster.

This coming season might be the worst team we field from '17-'20 just because, as you said, most of the talent is young. Going forward, our defensive talent will be seasoned to match our OLine, quarterback, etc.

Is Cal Berkeley playing you guys in Oxford this year? Going to be weird to see Antifa playing ball there.

I would say the south Carolina game. They always play us tough and it won't be easy this season. Their qb is talented despite what others may think

Is our defense really gonna be young? 7 upper classmen starters + 4 sophomores.
