lulz @ Aggie

The fricking letter he is taking this shite from is like 14 pages long. You have no idea how sad that shite is.

That's fricking embarrassing. This is why Tbird said to leave that bevel/no bevel shite on texags/the zoo.

No kidding. Holy cow, I had no idea how prescient TBird was. Take that stuff somewhere else, please.

Back to the original subject: MSU is marginal - I prefer their new one but the old one wasn't bad at all. Mizzou is a toss-up. I like them both. Everybody else save A&M (and I'm not about to get into that with Old Main or anybody else) is clearly better in my opinion.

Well the last time we made a major change in the logo on our helmets (which is the "official" logo although we have several others) was 1966 and it went from this

to this

and today we have this

so there hasn't been much changing. I don't see much changing any time in the near future. It's a badass helmet

I've seen your work on TexAgs previously and appreciate all that your group has done to try to preserve/restore history in regards to the Texas A&M campus. But this beveled vs. non-beveled campaign:

Please, for the love of humanity, take it back to TexAgs! I come to SEC Rant to get away from that shite.

Seriously. They make the bevel a bigger deal than it really is. I like no bevel better but as an outsider I can tell you that I've never thought about the geometric inaccuracies on your logo. why not just think about the non beveled as a silhouette of the logo? Simply put, every time i see aTm(beveled or not) i think of Texas A&M. Isn't that the goal?

It is BUT a lot of the problem with changes in logos go back to lazy designers associated with marketing and distribution of merchandise. A lot of the time the apparel/merchandising companies are the ones who drive schools to change their "official" logo. The merchandising companies "simplify" the logo to make it more easily/cheaply reproduced, or the plant's equipment lacks the ability to faithfully reproduce the logo and then the school is stuck with cheap-arse crap thsat no one likes.

I'll use Mississippi State as an example. Adidias, one of the largest sports equipment companies in the world, can't even get the shade of maroon in our uniforms correct. 90% of the merchandise with the Mississippi State logo on it out there is the wrong shade of maroon. The school even lists the official shade of maroon on its website and still no one can get it right. The company will go with the color/shade they have available instead of attempting to actually reproduce the correct thing for the customer.

I mean is maroon really that hard to reproduce correctly?

Mizzou Powerkitty logo actually replaced Mizzou Psycho Leaping lifelike tiger logo.

And standard issue cat based mascot paw logo.

I think Powerkitty is an upgrade over both. I could do without the oval though.

I love the USC interlocking logo. Something about USC's colors and logo I've always admired.

I've always liked the USC logo, even before I figured out where the chicken's head actually starts.

I only buy Bama shirts with this logo. The script A alone is okay, but the current circle logo is mediocre. Angry Al was awful.
