Urban went conservative as hell on offense and we let teams hang around in the 4th quarter because of it. We should have lost the Arkansas game but got a few shitty calls that went against them to hold on. I think if we lose the Arkansas game it might have served us well, like losing the Ole Miss game did the year before. It made the team realize it needed to improve.

I already knew Hallman was not going to cut it as a head coach at LSU and told everyone on the radio this just after we hired him.

1975 and the veer offense, need I say more.

Brother I hate to break it to you but 11-1 LSU was not jumping 12-0 Texas.

Hell I’ll go a step further. If we beat Tennessee on that Monday AND beat Georgia in the SECCG we still are #3.

Texas and USC were preseason 1-2 and were getting in if they went undefeated. The strength of the SEC didn’t become a narrative until like 2009-2010.

I'd have to say the 2000 Alabama Crimson Tide tops the list for me. We came into that season with the highest of expectations. The expectations were not only unrealistic but the season itself was a catastrophe. Getting shut out by both Southern Miss AND Auburn at home on the way to an eight-loss season is not something I ever want to experience again.

Mike Dubose was a roller coaster ride. He just won the SEC in '99, beating Steve Spurrier twice to do it. Keep in mind, this was also the BAMA administration that ran Stallings out of town.

Andrew Sorensen and Bob Bockrath were the two worst things to happen to the University of Alabama. It's sad that Hootie Ingram had to swing for the whole Antonio Langham fiasco.

It also helped create the dynamics for our wandering through the wilderness until Mal Moore broke through in 2007.

There was a so much potential on that team and we started out squeaking by southern and then gave USC its first SEC win in a couple years. Cocaine is a helluva drug, Quincy Carter.

We played a tougher schedule. Undefeated, BCS would have put us over Texas after the SECCG.

With the loss to Tennessee, I bet media would have pushed hard for us.

2000 was the first year that popped into my head.

Picked preseason to contend for the NC, we open at USC. First drive we force a three and out and knock USC's starting QB out of the game. Freddie Milons promptly returned the subsequent punt for a TD, and we were all booking flights to the championship game.

Then the wheels fell off, the transmission seized, and the engine threw a rod. fricking brutal.

I haven't talked shite before a game since 2000. Although it really started against Michigan in the bowl game after winning the SEC.

fricking Tom Brady.

1998 LSU

We were 3-0 and ranked top 10

Went 1-7 the rest of the way

I was pretty young and remember hating our DC Lou Tepper. Still do

This, and not even close in my lifetime. Writing was on the wall with Les, but the 1998 season was a collapse unlike anything I've ever seen.
