Sounds like this was just social media talk.

Wasn't anything said about his "morals" until after his team was blown out on Saturday night.

The for cause issue being discussed are just silly. Nobody that knows anything about college football thinks they fired him for cause. Even if they did the timing would be so horrendously bad they probably couldn't get a for cause firing to stick.

IMO the only way the payments due are reduced is by an upfront lump sum/accelerated payments or some reduction based on LSU dropping their mitigation rights.

My guess is that he is 64 and there is a high likelihood that his contract requires him actively looking for HC positions and accepting reasonable offers.
At 64, getting paid half for not working sounds pretty nice. Also, LSU is government so they have some additional leverage like paying zero and just taking the reputation hit.

They tried showing him some pics they had of him smoking cigs out behind the ops center. Told him he could have them if he agreed to a reduction. He told them to frick off and pay up.

He doesn’t have to look for HC positions.

If you think any coach worth a shite would work there after that - I have some ocean front property available right here in Oklahoma.

See Mike Leach Vs TX (TTU)

Can’t sue the government unless they agree to be sued or the legislature already carved out specific exemptions.

The state of Texas already did it and they still hire coaches just fine.

Interesting, although the facts there would be a little different than LSU just saying that “we’re not paying you for a termination without cause”.

BK’s contract does include a provision expressly providing that LSU is not waiving any sovereign immunity.

The present value of his buyout over time, with no mitigation, would be somewhere around $35 million. So, if you factor in some mitigation money, $20 million now is not a huge discount.

If the NPV of my payout is $35 million, and I am requested to settle for $20 million, I would tell my agent to give them a three word response "GFY".

the speculation about LSU “using” that are just speculation

I'm not sure if it's still accessible, but when the Coaching Changes Board was up, someone mentioned them getting it down to $20-$25m for this exact reason.

And if I recall this was posted after the game, before anything was even official regarding BK.

So either it was true and got leaked, or multiple people saw/heard the exact same rumor.

My understanding is that it’s 53MM if he were to take it over the next 6-7 years.

They are negotiating a lump sum buyout and in that negotiation I think some of his transgressions are coming to light to get him to agree to a lesser lump sum.

None of this is reported as factual, so who really knows.

If school were smart they'd have a PI on retainer following these coaches around and keeping a file on them.

Until you need to hire your next coach. Seriously, I understand but would you want to work for an organization like this, who is actively spying on you?
