The main gripes I have about Saban are:
1. He sucks at using his timeouts at the end of the 1st half...really sucks.

2. He doesn’t pull the starters early enough (or sometimes at all) in games which the opponent has given up.

Bama has zero backups outside freshmen @ that position. They have not done a good job building depth at LB. Just the honest truth. Hopefully it was a freak thing and they didn't have the guy taking live fire 4 days before kickoff.

If everyone were healthy, LB depth & quality would be amazing. Injuries, brah.

Name 'em. They lost the senior and went to a freshman because the 3rd year player they have has basically sucked up groceries to this point. That left a second year guy who didn't play last year and he hasn't made a move and a head case. They are out of bodies except freshmen.

The issue wasn't leaving Mauck in the game, it was calling a run play for your QB near the goal line in a game that was well in hand.

It does suck for Moses who likely would have been a first round pick but to prepare for football it's part of the game. Everyone goes through it and you hope it's minimal or doesn't impact one position group to hurt depth.

You will likely see most teams attack the middle of that defense now and try and take advantage of some young LB's that may make some rookie mistakes.

Not true as to a typical Saban coached squad. They had Moses who was leaving in any event before the injury. A 5th year senior who knows the calls but had never broken a serious sweat in a live game. And two freshmen. Oh they had a late take 2nd year guy who has shown little potential and was only taken after they missed their targets the year before. And Benton who has been a major disappointment and who the coaches seem to have little trust in. One proven player for 2 spots. That has not been traditionally a status quo depth chart for a Saban squad to this point.

None of those can play winning football at this point against AU, UGA, LSU nor A&M. Nor likely MSU or maybe even South Carolina.

They would start ahead of Moses and the two freshmen with a full season of starting experience? I hope so. That would mean those freshmen were bad.

I guess everyone wants someone or something to blame, but sometimes shite just happens.

True. We had a rash of pitchers injured last year. A lot of folks were convinced that the coaching staff was to blame, even though the same staff had years of service relatively injury free.

You don't know that. Just because they haven't been able to get on the field at Bama yet doesn't mean they can't play winning football against top competition. Either way, you asked for the non freshman backups and you got an answer

Yes I do know THAT. Aside from that read the post I responded too. The poster said AMAZING DEPTH AND QUALITY. They had one amazing player. And some guys who had been there as long as 5 years and NEVER played. The fact that pure freshmen with no practice jumped right to the front is a clue. The hope now I'm sure is no more injuries and the freshmen turn into football players before the A&M game.

Moses
McMillon
Lee
Harris
Moody
Benton
Kaho

That is quality, and the fact that they would have been 7 deep with quality players is amazing depth. Name some teams who would have had better depth at ILB had Moses and McMillon not gotten hurt

It's fricking unbelievable how many injuries we've had at LB since 2016. We're also dangerously thin at the position, and it boggles my mind that guys like Justin Flow and Nakobe Dean don't want to come here when they'd easily start from day 1, as opposed to sitting on the bench for a year or two.

It's the Botch Jones effect. Laugh if you want but it's real.

Hell...the last couple of years at UT they've had to pull redshirts and play walkons to have enough on the OL...And had 6 that took medicals and retired in the past year and a half.
