Georgia and Florida.

People will say LSU, but the state produces shite QBs, OLs and DLs. The ones that are ranked high as recruits flame out in college because they can barely read.

Alabama is underrated. Some great players come out of there. Bama is cleaning up this year in state

Yes, but it is a per capita situation of high end but limited quantity of talent that shares a state with another major school. And, that top tier talent is more available to poaching than ever before in the NIL era.

Mississippi is a similar case. For years, they have been a top 3 school among all of the big 3 sports in per capita talent. They just lose them out of state or divide them in state to no good end.

It’s Georgia and there isn;t a close second.

Since 2020 UGA is sitting around 40% on getting the top 15 recruits to commit each year. The last class helped that number, they did poorly in a few years.

Ga is poached, UGA has no real lock on the talent.

UGA with all their resources is the classic all-time under achiever because 1) it's in a large population state 2) a big minority population 3) no in-state rivals for top talent 4) the only in-state school in the SEC 5) largest fan base (football factory) 6) unlimited budget and 7) most pansy schedule in the nation for a Power 5 school.

They can't put up a fence around that talent, that is the issue

I agree and as a GA resident (and someone who went to UGA) I've thought that for a long time. Obviously UGA has caught up, but it was overdue IMO. GA is the wealthiest and largest state in the Deep South, it has been a strong academic school for a while and it has the capital of the southeast in its footprint. There was just never any reason for it not to be a national flagship.

You guys will laugh but State is actually in a great area for football recruiting. Yes our program is down currently but over the last 35 years Coach Sherrill and Mullen proved that we could win. Mullen gets dinged for his poor recruiting (and there is a bit of truth there) but at State his recruiting was underrated (IMO).

Geography has less bearing on recruiting than ever before.

Louisiana has more talent per capita than practically anyone.

What year was UGA’s SoS the worst in the power 5?

Year in/out uga always has either the most pansy schedule or one of the top three easiest schedules in the SEC if not all of MCF. With its in-state rival GA Tech and until last year always, always, always playing Vanderbilt and Kentucky uga has traditionally had the easiest challenge in the SEC. Most years it came down to beating Auburn and then uga was SEC co-champions or were in the SEC championship game. Pansy, thy name is uga.

You could just about say the same thing about Florida. It only trails Texas in population and has enough talent to keep three schools in regular contention for top twenty spots.
