Absolutely horrible as a head coach. He'll stay as a coordinator.

I believe he's still cashing checks from USC, has a kid on UGA's team, and is co-DC at his alma mater.

Coaches don’t give a shite about coaching at their alma mater. They care about their career trajectory.

I think he's staying for a long time.

He's coaching w/his two best friends (Kirby and Bobo) at his alma mater and he's home.

He's not going anywhere.

From what I hear he is very happy in Athens. What sane person wouldn’t be? It’s Athens.
He has a lot of money that UF and SC gave him, a very nice salary for being a defensive coordinator, coaching at his alma mater with his 2 best buddies, winning natties and being able to be with his son who on the UGA team.
His explosive temper isn’t very explosive nowadays. Less stress in a dream job he was born for and tremendous success have calmed him. He looks like a very very happy man

Spurrier didn't have room for a walk on, huh?

Lol

Why make shite up?

You realize that Will's coach in high school back in Gainesville was a former UF player, John Clifford, right? And he grew up a UF fan, basically right across the street from campus. What exactly do you think is being made up here?

My recollection is that Muschamp was being recruited by a lot of schools, including UF and UGA, then had a bad injury in high school and all the recruiting faded away. Finally UGA called him and wanted him to walk on, and that's what he did.

Spurrier despises the Dawgs and is beloved by Florida fans for the way he turned the rivalry in Florida's favor. Muschamp, after a failed attempt to garner interest from Spurrier as a player, went to Georgia and never defeated the Gators. As Florida's head coach, he is 0-3 against his alma mater. foxsports

He's in a perfect spot for him. He's a great DC but not a HC. I don't see him even taking an NFL gig either

Will he get another Power 5 HCing gig in a place that's at least proven it can be a top 20 program in the recent past?

I don't know, but he'd likely take such an offer.

Would he go to a Group of 5 program or take an Indiana, Colorado type offer and try to rebuild his brand as a HC? Don't know, but I don't think that would be nearly as tempting as the first option.

Muschamp has mentioned he has only wanted to coach in the southeast (I know he had a stint at TX) as that fits his style and family as well. Would limit his offerings unless a Carolina team offers a HC gig.

UF had the best defense in the country, IMO. Then Quinn left. Defense was still good, but everything else fell apart.

More or less the same story at South Carolina.

Our defense was trash under Muschamp...our offense was too
