The posters on this Notre Dame board don't seem to agree with your revisionist history.

Not sure what point you're trying to make. The following are some samples from the first page of that board.

I doubt if Swarbrick had the clearance to match the $ LSU offered. And if Kelly left for the $ he's not the man I though the was.

Not upset.
I’ve been saying all year that bk will NEVER win a national title. Not at ND, not LSU, Alabama, anywhere. He’s not capable. So good for LSU, I guess, but glad we have a chance to find a guy now who CAN win one.

Now do the entire first page rather than cherry picking.

Well according to SidewalkGoldenEagle, anything BK did at ND is irrelevant because ND didn't have the talent (but wait, the NFL rosters say different), oops, I mean ND didn't have the skill position talent (but wait, the NFL rosters say different), oops, I mean ND didn't have the "elite" skill position talent (still waiting on a quantifiable definition of "elite") to accurately judge if BK is a good coach.

Also, Brian Kelly led consistently overrated ND teams, which is why they lost in the CFP and BCS, but were able to go 2-0 vs. LSU and all the elite skill position talent at LSU, you know, that thing he was supposedly lacking while at ND.

So basically we're left with the Cinci, Central Michigan, and Grand River State Normal College parts of BK's resume.

The circular logic is baffling.

First tell us the biggest FBS win of Nick Saban, Les Miles and Ed Orgeron before they became the HC at LSU.

Nick Saban-1998 win in Columbus against #1 OSU
Les Miles-2001 win in Norman against #2 OU
Ed O-2013 in LA against #5 Stanford

These are merely the exact smug talking points that these nervous UGa fans are parroting. If you’d hear these Notre Dame fans talk, one would think they won at least three national titles over the last twenty years, and Brian Kelly was holding them back.

What does he have to do with you talking in circles?

Stop saying you can’t judge a coach by his first year and then go right back to judging Kelly by his first year. You sound stupid. Someone else maybe saying something stupid doesn’t make what you’re doing less stupid. It just makes you both look stupid.

I swear you'll be telling your great-grandsons about the 2021 Texas Bowl and LSU will have been playing iron man football with 11 students picked off the intramural fields hours before the train was supposed to leave to go to Houston.

I've literally said two things about Kelly's first season at LSU:

One was a response to Sidewalker trying to paint LSU's season as some magnificent success and the other was saying that the win over Alabama could be considered one of BK's best wins over a FBS teams of all time, which is the topic of this thread.

The number of scholarship players LSU had has remained the same. When other fan bases continue to make the same threads with the same arguments, you’re going to see the same responses to those same arguments. This shouldn’t be difficult to figure out. But maybe it is for some.

This is a funny narrative too.

The knock is that Brian Kelly is 0-4 in NY6/CFP games.

2012: He lost to #1 national champion Alabama

2015: He lost to #7 Ohio State. To my point about skill position players, this Ohio State team featured JT Barrett, Ezekiel Elliott, Curtis Samuel, Braxton Miller, and Michael Thomas, among others. Probably the most evenly matched of the 4 losses though.

2018: He lost to #1 Clemson who also won the national championship by beating #2 Alabama just as bad as they did Notre Dame.

2020: They lost to #1 Alabama, the best Alabama team of all time.

So Kelly "has a history of shitting the bed" because he didn't beat the national champion in 3 of those games and lost to a very good Ohio State team in the other.

Uh huh...

those numbers included very few skill position players.

How many of those were "elite?"
I ask Sidewalker to define "elite"
I get a laughing emoji and no definition

Being the "media darling" would mean they're perpetually overrated

Kelly's teams at Notre Dame were perpetually overrated

Murph made an excellent argument earlier for BK succeeding at LSU when he posted the players in the NFL by college numbers

Let’s give him a little credit
