Who does he play for? Sounds like maybe a baseball player.

Well we don't cheat like Bama. Remember the last time they got caught and had to schedule Hawaii because cheaters can't go to bowl games. Some states have more to offer than a good college football team, some don't so they have to cheat

Your post history suggests you are obsessed with Mississippi State. Your posts smell a lot like envy and it's sad.

2003 final AP poll: #1 Southern Cal., #2 LSU

2003 BCS champion: LSU

Bama's in 64 is BS.

Bama lost to Texas in the Orange Bowl while Arkansas beat Texas in Austin and was undefeated.

Rightly or wrongly the national champion was decided before the bowl games in those days, Alabama is the only legitimate Champ in 64.

LSU beat the loser of the big xii championship in your bowl game.

USC beat the winner of the big x championship.

Split title.
You probably shouldn't have lost to Florida at home.
USC lost at Cal in overtime.

I'm sorry.

AP Champions who lost their bowl game besides Bama....

OU (10-1) lost Sugar bowl game to Kentucky in 1950

Tennessee (10-1) lost Sugar bowl to Maryland 1951

Maryland (10-1) lost Orange bowl to Oklahoma 1953

Minnesota (8-2) lost Rose bowl to Washington 1960

You guys claim 73 in which you lost the bowl game and the AP Poll put you at 4? What's the explanation there?

64 just seems clear cut. Arkansas is undefeated while Bama's lone loss was to a Texas squad that only lost to Arkansas.

What's funny is the next year (1965), AP didn't vote until after the bowl game.

Arkansas was undefeated & ranked #2 (#1 at one time); Bama had dropped out of the AP poll after losing and tying a game. Bama got back in and worked their way back up to #4 before the bowl games.

#1 Mich St. lost in Rose bowl to UCLA
#2 Arkansas lost in Cotton bowl to LSU
#4 Bama went to Orange Bowl, beat #3 Neb.

Bama became 1965 AP champions.

The concept of a split title ended when the Bowl Alliance became the BCS. The conferences sanctioned the BCS as the national championship game and the polls became simply a part of that formula to determine who would play in that game.

Right. So if Alabama was the champion for 64, then Arkansas was the champion for 65 and vice versa

No. The polls changed the procedure after 1964 to include bowls. 64 is the cut off.

You’re making me defend Alabama

We just went by what the polls said

Polls didn't work in our favor in 1966

But to close up the conversation. The definition of "champion" is "best". Arkansas was the best team in the country in 64, so they were the national champions
