What if Tulane would have told Sumrall to leave during the playoffs?

He would have left. You all know it. Would he still have the number of lips caressing his nut sack as he does today? Wouldn’t he be the same pond scum as Kiffin?

Is LSU starting to second guess their hire?

This is a pretty strange time to bring this topic up. We’re a 1/3rd of the way through this season. Let last year stay in the past.

Two responses, yet neither provide an answer. Doesn’t fit the narrative.

This isnt Kiffin's first rodeo as far as walking out on his team. We all know what Lane is, very good coach, but a tru whore for a dollar.

I actually like the hire. Not sure where you’re getting that. I also like the Sumrall hire. I, for one, think these guys should go where they want to. They owe no loyalty, these coaches are always a couple losses away from the chopping block (as slob Elko) will soon find out.

No one at UF would have cared if Tulane ran him off for taking the job. I don't blame Ole Miss for running Kiffin off though because it was a bad look being at an SEC school.

Sumrall has stated he would not take a job unless he was able to coach Tulane as long as Tulane remained in the playoffs. And Tulane was not going to run him off so the premise is invalid. Plus Sumrall donated 100k to Tulane’s nil on the way out the door and only took Tulane’s punter and kicker with him, which incidentally has not hurt Tulane at all given that our kicker just set a school record with a 58 yarder and our punter is near the top in the country and they were on the roster last year. Sumrall is not at all like Kiffin.

Dude Tulane probably never considered it because they were probably grateful for the job he did for one. They knew that he would probably leave for a better job at some point if he done well when they hired him. They were excited they made the playoff and wanted to go for it and hope they could make a serious run by letting him stay and coach.

Sumrall didn’t leave Tulane to go to an in conference rival. He also didn’t cause the maximum amount of drama he could on his way out the door. He also didn’t keep Tulane sitting around in the dark waiting with its fingers crossed while he made up his mind. Kiffin may not have known he was leaving for LSU specifically right away but I’m pretty sure Kiffin knew he was leaving Ole Miss once he started seeing the interest in him last year. He could have been honest and give the standard answer to the media but have told the leadership up front I have interest in a bigger school with more money so you guys should quietly work behind the scenes to find another coach. Instead he kept everyone waiting and strung everything out because he liked the attention he was getting because he was getting off on it. Sumrall and Kiffin are 2 completely different situations.

if i'm kiffin i stay at ol' miss he could've been coach for life at ol' miss he11 he could be chewed up and spit out at lsu in three years given their history. there's no way after what they did to brian kelly i take that job.

frankly so could sumrall at florida, the real question that any coach should ask themselves when considering coaching at florida, am i really a better coach than will muschamp and dan mullen, because both of those coaches came into to florida with great resumes from very stable situations.

What did LSU do to Kelly? Give him a 10 year contract and full control over the program?

This whole fricking board is 2 faced on Kiffin and Sumrall because you all hate LSU.

Ole Miss would still have beaten them like a red-headed stepchild.

and then fired him in three years.you guys fire national championship winning coaches. the only reason kelly took that job is he thought that if buffoons like miles and orgeron could win national championships he could too.

the only sure thing left on your schedule is mcneese state i don't mean that in a derogatory way just a fact.

Two players followed Sumrall from Tulane to Florida, and both were special teams players. He also donated $$$$ Tulane’s NIL collective.

Kiffin tried to gut Ole Miss on his way out and is still trying to burn it down. Sumrall gave back to the program he left. Kiffin acted like a child as he walked out the door.

Character-wise, these two guys aren’t in the same universe.

He had 3 full seasons and he coached 8 games in the 4th. He was fired because he refused to make changes. We let Miles hang around too long for refusing to change.

Well he sure as hell didn't coach like it.

Kinda tells ya what type of person he is.
