Sumrall has stated he would not take a job unless he was able to coach Tulane as long as Tulane remained in the playoffs

The situations are so different both in the dynamic of the schools involved as well as how each coach handled what they could control throughout the process. These theoreticals you are imagining in order to make them seem like the same exact scenario not only didn't occur, it couldn't occur because 1. Tulane was in no position and had no reason to not want him to coach (unlike Ole Miss), and 2. Florida was in no position to tell Sumrall he couldn't coach the playoffs to get to UF earlier, even if for whatever reason that's what they really wanted (no evidence of this). We have sucked forever, we were out on Kiffin and Auburn/Ole Miss were ahead of the game on us on the next big catch. If we tried to force that dumb shite on him, Auburn/OM/other school would not have and we would have been left with the scraps.

What if Tulane would have told Sumrall to leave during the playoffs?
The fact that they didn't nukes your thread. Congrats.

He would have left.
Probably. But I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have tried to poach players from Tulane.

oh wait, you mean he said that out loud? Guess it's 100% true then. Coaches have never said one thing and done the other, of course.
