No coach has ever became an SEC champion or National champion coach in modern history that didn't have a good record in onecseason by their 3rd full season and that includes Clemsons coach. I believe that applies to playoff teams also.

"ULL butt buddies" this type of post makes this a Disney forum. I guess I am to old for the 90% click bait posts. I am pretty convinced after reading your dreck since you got here, you are either 20 yrs old or a uga fan.

Would the schedule be considered such a bfd if Urbs was still running things and Teebus was still behind center? Just something to consider.
People consider the UGA schedule to be crazy strong despite Kirbs still running things.

Contrary to popular belief, the Gators demise is greatly exaggerated.
With at least 8 wins this season, the opponents' fans and the Negagators will be silenced. Go gators!

Florida has the toughest schedule in the nation this year. If Napier starts out with a couple of losses, I could see him gone mid season. Just a brutal schedule this year. That is coming off two losing seasons.

Are there a lot of UF fans that hope to see Lagway thrown in there this season? I guess if that were to happen, then Mertz would have to be pretty bad.

If they had Missouri's schedule I think it would be a much different story. Their schedule is brutal. They could be a top 25 team and still finish 6-6

Missouri, with a much lesser brand and recruiting was <= .500 yr 1-3 and went 11-2 in yr 4.
Here is our problem. We have way too many boosters who just don't know jack shite about football. And some of them are in my own family. (not this guy)
So we are now aspiring to be like Missouri?

We have way too many Poindexters at UF. But hey look at our university ranking!

8-4 is likely best case for the Gators and gets Billy another year. But they might only win 4. I feel like they're better and have a better roster. If they don't win, it won't be because they had too small of a staff. Way overloaded on admin. The size of their staff even left the Old Ball Coach scratching his head.

Yes, but more to get him comfortable with the game.

Not at all. Freshman QBs get weeded in fairly often as prep for the next year. Mertz is unlikely to be bad if last year is any indication. We would have been absolutely screwed without him behind center last year. Ended up with 3,000 yards passing, 7:1 TD:INT.
We have a much harder schedule so I don't expect that to be the same this year, but he had the 2nd highest QB rating at Florida (behind Trask) since Tebow.

I don't think that Mertz is bad at all, I just know that Lagway is a serious talent.

Napier won't give up calling plays. The actual offense he runs isn't all that bad- it's not exciting but it's not complete trash. The problem is that Billy has shown he should not be in charge of it on game day. He calls the most unimaginably awful momentum killing plays on a regular basis. He doesn't understand when to use timeouts. He can't get his staff to ensure the correct number of players are on the field. It's ego at this point to keep trying and failing to be that guy to the detriment of the program.
He had a chance to hire one this off-season and didn't. I think his fate was pretty much sealed at that point.
Recruiting, his bread and butter (before NIL.. now I don't think that skillet is nearly as valuable) is now suffering too. This year's class is going to be rough.

Okay so they have them 12th in the SEC, probably unranked in the first poll. But I've been keeping up with recruiting and they have a solid team, solid QB, why are people so down on UF? I think they have the talent to make noise this year.
Their recruiting isn't that good.
They were 7th among SEC teams in this last class, but those guys are true freshmen.
7th the year before that.
10th before that.
The talent they have leans heavily toward underclassmen which isn't ideal. And it hasn't been top 5 level in any year.
The other piece with them being ranked low is their coach hasn't impressed anyone yet.

Especially because Gaypier sucks as a gameday coach and doesn’t get the most out of his players
He really needs tremendous talent advantages to win, which is something he’s not establishing with his slightly above average recruiting
