Again, the 5 lowest graded players on LSU's offensive were the 5 offensive linemen.
Doesn't surprise me, they couldn't run block as usual and obviously struggled in pass protection once they were in obvious passing downs for most of the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Are LSU fans really still using this in Kelly's third year?
Yeah, it’s actually a real problem. Counting probably difficult for you, but that’s a 50 player hole to fill with whatever you can get and you add talent as you can.
Bama is dealing with similar issues or are all of your issues coaching?

Did they?
You don't finish a game with only 24 yards of rushing without your OL getting beat.

That's still a pathetic excuse in a coach's third season in the era of the transfer portal. I'd suggest tossing that one in the garbage bin and finding a new reason why Kelly shits his Dockers in the majority of big games he coaches.

Bama has a laundry list of issues, most of which revolve around the cement head playing QB. Luckily LSU rush D will be there to make him look good in a couple of weeks.

Kelly has been pretty transparent that he’s not going to spend crazy in the transfer portal. Doesn’t believe that’s the way to build the roster.
Time will tell if he regrets that or not, but he’s sticking to his guns. Our offensive and defensive line recruiting with Bo and Brad Davis has been really good so we should start stacking depth there.

They struggle in run blocking, there's no doubt about that.
But now we're back to the fact that A&M was supposedly whipping LSU on the line of scrimmage but had barely even touched Nuss up until LSU was in obvious passing downs.

He needs look no further than his protege, Elko, and his masterful use of the portal.
If any Aggie said we expected more than 8-4 before this season started they'd be lying. NIL and the portal has changed college football forever.
If you choose not to embrace it fully, the road will be much more difficult.

Right. We took away the run first, then came for the pass and got 3 takeaways due to the pressure.

I know LSU struggles under Kelly with this concept, but the game is 4 quarters. Congrats on your halftime lead. Nuss was picking grass out of his helmet most of the second half.
And why were you in obvious passing downs? Because you couldn't run the ball worth a shite. Our DL was manhandling your OL. Which goes back to my OP. For the first six years in the SEC, your RBs weren't getting touched the first 5 yards.
Has Kelly changed your recruiting approach? I'm honestly asking. Because seeing LSU so soft in the trenches is a weird sight.

Now we're being mocked by A&M. Who's next, Vanderbilt?

2nd pick - CB shows man and switches to zone.. Great D. Impressive play.
We run this play a lot and I worry about it for this very reason. If you looking for a descriptive cliche it would be “went to the well too many times…”

You don't have to spend a ton of cash to add depth from the portal, especially if LSU's roster is still as decimated as the guy I was responding to was trying to make it seem.

I wouldn't say mocked. Just pointing out a massive shift in how LSU plays. The all finesse and no run game is a strange site for LSU.

Not really, A&M really only started getting consistent pressure at the very end of the game.

What you are missing is a great coaching move by Elko at halftime. He told Holly Rowe that they needed to do something more extravagant to get pressure on Nuss and get him off schedule. I saw on a pregame show somewhere that aTms DL was very effective this yr getting QB pressure w/o blitzing. In fact they were last in the conf in blitzes but near the top in sacks.
Then look at the offense side. Your offense was sooo bad the QB got pulled. The result was LSU could not find their arse with either hand when it came to stopping the Reed offense.
So I give Elko the credit for two major chess moves that completely flipped the game.

This zone read with a slow qb. To me we need to go under center. Or at least a pistol

LSU rarely runs any zone read, those are RPOs

A&M is gonna take this win and extrapolate it further than they should which will set them up for an epic humbling.
LSU had a meltdown the likes of which we haven't seen in a long time. Nuss lost it, special teams lost it and the defense was put in a very difficult position.
The crowd was fantastic and had an effect. Kudos.

I think this is misunderstood.
The A&M D Line pushed the pocket around the entire game. LSU had a great blocking scheme and timing of plays that prevented Nuss from being sacked in the first half.
Elko always makes brilliant half-time adjustments. In the second half, the D line provided the same effort, but came from different angles.
At this point, the run game was non existent and the game was placed in Nuss. Once we figured that out, it was easy to bait him into ints.

No, this is not the case. Elko will go right back to his initial QB1 and see what he gets for production. If it works he will stick with it, if not, he will adjust.
He is fortunate that he has 2 QB's that don't appear to get upset with this...for now.
Is this a long term solution? Hell no.
