I’m fine if Cohen tells him he gets to the tournament next season or he’s gone. He’s really squandered some talent during his tenure.

Coach Howland has done a fine job over the last six years. I do think we underachieved in 2019 and 2020 though of course last year’s team did not have a shot at tournament play because of COVID-19.
This years team was inconsistent because of youth. Next year with the whole team returning minus Ado we should be competing for the SEC Championship and going the NCAA (at least that will be the expectation). If we don’t quite reach that , will it be time for him to go? I don’t know.
In today’s microwave society everybody wants success yesterday.

While I want to win games , my main focus is on how we play. If our guys are busting their tail every game and we are making 75% of our FT’s, then I will never be disappointed in them. I am disappointed when we lose but not down on the players.

So I would say wait until the end of next season before evaluating the team and the coach.

I'm 90% certain this is the truth.

Has Howland never made the Tourney is 6 years? If so, damn, it's worse than I thought.

Sure has! Got his a$$ bounced by Liberty in the first round. It's time for a change.

Meanwhile Rick Stansbury is playing for the CUSA title tonight and another NCAAT berth for WKU.

But, that's totally unrelated to this thread.....

One tournament appearance with two draft picks isn’t optimal

I’ve never been down on the players.
What I’m concerned about is them not getting the coaching they need to get to the tournament and beyond.

FTR I don’t want us to fire Howland if we don’t have anyone in mind. He’s not a bad coach by any means, but we need to build our program back up and never making the tournament (and getting upset in the first round the one time we did) isn’t going to get us anywhere.

That’s not even remotely true. We were a top 3 sec program from the late 90’s to 2010. Won 2 tournament titles and a regular season title in 2004 when we were ranked inside the top 10 for most of the season. Hell, look up the series record of MSU v LSU. I bet it’s pretty even
