They were clearly struggling down the stretch in the regular season and SEC tournament, it improved a bit in regional play and then a bit more in supers and now they have the best ERA and most strikeouts in Omaha.

The bullpen eliminated Tennessee then beat the #1 team in the country, Skenes handed Hurd a 0-0 game last night and Wake never plated a run. Arguably their best chance to score came against Skenes.

Did everyone get PED's?

You do what you have to do when your program is the face of the sport.

Just comes naturally.

It pretty obvious Jay is on another level understanding guys that have winning attitudes that translate to playing their best in Big games.
All I got, because a month ago I was worried we wouldn’t get out of our own regional.

I figured they'd get out of the regional and when Kentucky won theirs, I figured LSU had a good shot to make Omaha.

I thought they'd definitely have to stay in the winner's bracket though and was feeling pretty down on their chances Monday night.

Team showed a lot of chest.

Some guys ball out when the lights are the brightest. I think that is what has happened here

we were actually improving down the stretch. we just stopped using some guys who were giving up a million walks and runs.

They were coming together towards the end of the regular season, minus a couple pitchers who haven't pitched in several games now (Like little and Dutton)

Cooper, Hurd, Ack, Herring, and Guidry began coming into form towards the end of regular season

LSU really only had 1 bad inning of pitching in the SEC tournament. Then by the time the tournament rolled around our rotation was pretty clear

I think it was just a matter of some of our guys getting confidence and reps and Jay understanding better what he had to work with.

People seem to be acting like a switch was suddenly turned but you could tell there was a progression taking place over the last month, I however did not expect it to be this good even with the park in Omaha

I think the biggest change is not having to deal with SEC umps.

Started throwing strikes in a bigger ball park with the wind blowing in.

A couple factors...

SEC umps called extremely tight, basically a shoebox for a strike zone. That, combined with smaller (and lively) ballparks, wreaked havoc with a lot of pitchers. Good batters knew the zone, and sat waiting for a meatball. If you try to nibble at the edges, you start walking and get into trouble. If you give in, you're basically throwing BP. And in those parks, solid contact on a fly ball is 50/50 gonna be a HR.

Omaha, the park is big and can be deadball. The zone has been been looser, I've seen a lot of called strikes that I thought the batter couldn't have done a damn thing with. Not saying those are bad calls, but simply balances things toward the pitchers. Batter has to reach out and foul them off. Then, when things did get barreled up, that park took the steam out of a lot of fly balls. I didn't watch the Fla HRs, but the ones I saw in LSU games (including Tennessee's off Guidry), they were blasted. You had to man up to hit them.
