I always thoght Malzahn's pre-snap shell game was the primary reason his run schemes were so hard to defend.

Did Malzahn get rid of the motion in order to make the offense easier for Johnson?

What was once innovative is now done by everyone. His motion is simply lining up in the spread and then shifting to a shotgun wing t.

AU's O is turning into Bama, and Bama's O in turning into AU. Strange times.

When can I safely start talking about safety?

I don't think it is as effective with Johnson. Not having the running threat makes a difference. His shaking passing makes a difference too.

I think this is a decent question. From my understanding Gus really believes/believed JJ was a supreme thrower. He turned his Ark St QB into a gunslinger. Looks like this won't be the case for JJ. Really hoping we run read option the rest of the season.

Gus always tries to tailor the offense to his qb. He has done this at every single one of his stops. He either misjudged jj, or jj is a basket case and not capable of doing under the lights what he does in practice.

Probably what Gus meant in his interview when he said "I've got to do a better job putting him in good positions"

agree with this. I think LSU is going to get a much heavier dose of misdirection and running plays

It seems like Gus has gone away from what made him the coach he was. Go back and watch his o in 2009 with Todd at qb who coukdnt run at all. We had different formations with tons of pre snap motions and it seems like a much deeper playbook. Now it seems we never run pace, the only motion we have is the jet sweep which we never use and we run about 6 plays. And on Johnson I have heard he does not play the way he has in games in practice not even close. I think part of the problem is the kid does not want to get hit at all and he doesn't have to worry bout that in practice.

I have a feeling you'll see a different offensive scheme this week than you have this previous 2 weeks.

Do you think Gus has been sandbagging?

No reason for it really when the defense knows the QB is no threat to run he ball.

AU hasn't done that type of motion consistently since 2011.

ow it seems we never run pace
When we do, we simply run the same play we just ran. Occasionally we mix it up and run to the other side.

Perhaps Malzahn's playbook is limited by JJ's mental acuity ?

So you really believe Gus will keep the same shite going into our first SEC game? It's a clean slate for the SEC schedule comin up.

This.

I'm baffled as to why JJ hasn't keep on the zone read once this season.
