Sports and music have probably been more positive for race relations than anything else in this country.
Totally agree because real life is certainly fricking it up.

It is more of how society is going. I may be different than many but I only blame my problems on myself not anything else
For me if people accept the responsibility of their failures than the world would be much safer and better
No one keeps you in your position in life except yourself.
Sports is one of he ways to teach people personal responsibility IMO

I agree. We put ourselves in situations a lot of times that lead to bad things and then blame it on someone else.

I think my love for college football started at 8 years old when I watched my brother jump around the living room hollering and throwing stuff at the TV when we beat Alabama in '93.

It is a game I watch and enjoy from the stands or my chair. It is a chance to watch with my son and spend time together. Going back to campus brings back memories of good friends and good times. We enjoy it more when Auburn wins, but life goes on if our football team comes up short.
It is not life and death.
It does not pay my bills.

The last conversation I ever had with my dad was about Alabama football.. He was dying of cancer and they had just put him in the hospital.. We were looking at the Lindy's that had just come out.. He was hoping that Derrick Thomas would be able to replace Bennet.. Was worried about the QB play but knew we had a good running game.. Did not like Curry at all.. We talked for several hours about his trips to watch bowl games and how he got to walk real close to Bear Bryant.. You could tell he was going through his life.. He would ask me about former players to see if I had heard of them.. He loved Pat Trammel.. Sometime through the night after I had went home he lost his ability to communicat.. Died the next day.. Alabama football means a lot to me.

I help coach a Pop Warner team, and football has been a wonderful outlet for boys from all walks of life to play, and be treated equally. It also has taught these boys respect and teamwork despite each other's background. I like to think that football has indeed made the lives, and futures for these boys (and their communities) better.
So, for me, football has been a wonderful tool which helps develop the bodies and minds of boys in a manner which will help them become better men.

I like football because it is a nice escape from the real world. If I am just watching it at home, it is still fun and exciting and relaxing. For a game home/away it's almost a mini-vacation. Spend the whole day with friends, eating, drinking, and then watching the Tigers destroy our enemies dreams.

It means a great deal to me. My dad's health is not very good. Hes had two heart surgeries and just recently was cleared of melanoma. Hes comes over every Saturday and spends the night and we watch football all day, listen to music, eat, and just enjoy each other's company. I'm getting chills just thinking about it. We don't have long to go.
Cheers

The outcome is not important as the fellowship and community. Without football I would never have gotten the opportunity to spend as much quality time with my family and friends as I have. For that I'll always be grateful.
Win or lose, I'll always enjoy seeing my state get a chance to represent itself on a national stage. It gives us an opportunity to fight against the outdated message that Mississippi is nothing more than a poor, uneducated, racist state.

A game that represents so damn much. A battle against the other states - our resources versus theirs.

All my friends and I get together at the community shed in the Turkey Hill trailer and RV park. We sit around and watch-listen to the Tide while drinking Nattie Lite until we pass out and piss ourselves. Hotdogs and chips on the grill. Nothing could compares to the good life of friends and drunks and Bama football.
