There are tons of videos on youtube of people transplanting enormous mature trees. It seems they do it at golf courses all the time.

I'm seriously asking, why can't they do this? Clear the space out, dig a huge trench, and bring in new trees. Any botany experts wanna weigh in?

That's a good question. I know there was at one time a concern that the 80DF got into the ground water so it must have been a large amount. Maybe the ground is not suitable? Perhaps someone in the know can fill us in.

The large amount Spike 80DF is a concern. I know that trees are transplanted every day, but probably not in an asphalted area like downtown Auburn. The root structure of oaks that size are enormous so transplanting wouldn't be as feasable as one might think (Before the trees were poisoned, their health was actually a big concern because of how confined their roots were in downtown Auburn).

It's a horrible sentence for killing another person, it's an even worse sentence for killing a sorry arse tree.

Just fine him.

Get the AU symbol tattooed on his forehead, Toomer's Corner tattooed in great detail on his back, Auburn War Eagle on chest, with the auburn creed going down one side of his body, and their fight song on the other. No jail time, Just let him go once he's got those tattoos.

A better example would be that an Auburn fan broke the handprints of past captains especially those that have passed away. Then for good measure pours enough poison to make the quad unusable for 5 years.

He has no money, so restitution is out if the question. The dude is mentally sick so he needs to go to a mental hospital. he should stay there until the Bama in him is reduced to a safe level.

If he can not go to a hospital. He should get at least 5 years, serve 2 IF he confesses and tells authorities his accomplice. One condition of his probation should be that he is not allowed to be on TV or radio bragging about his actions. .

Hit him where it hurts. Permanent ban from the City of Ttown and he is not allowed with in 20 miles of Bama football game...ever.

All he cares about is Bama football so a fine or comm service will do nothing.

If an Auburn fan did that, I'd say no significant prison time. It's vandalism of an inanimate object. WTF is wrong with you people?

Seriously dude, you're an idolator.

Community service that specifically benefits Auburn University, a hefty fine, and probation. Any kind of jail time is just silly given the situation.

A fine and probation does no real harm. I can almost guarantee he would get more than enough donations from rogue Bama fans to pay his fine. Say what you want, there's a lot of Bama fans that hail him a hero. I would say 6 months or a year in jail.

Now we are getting somewhere... So you admit he should get some prison time for an inanimate object, so can we also agree that he should get a LOT more for a live object? Seems like someone spreading poison at the Quad that affects thousands of fans which are not inanimate objects should also garner punishment.

Add the two together and what do you get?

Well, since he decided to take his case to trial at taxpayers expense, then go outside the courtroom and admit he did it to the press, he will get hit hard.

Hefty fine: $5000. ($2500 per tree)
30 day suspended sentence*
1 year supervised probation
1 yr unsupervised
Anger management classes
500 hr's community service
Written apology
Sworn affidavit that he will never set foot on Auburn University, or the town of Auburn again.
