Other than 1941, can you find another that's illegitimate? I understand the argument behind losing a bowl game after being awarded an NC, but back then, it didn't matter. That would be similar to the NFL counting preseason games today.

You can't apply today's standards to the past.

Not to get in the way of you bama fan's debate, but the 1920's titles are very questionable, considering they aren't awarded until a pole that was invented some 20 years later.

I have an issue with marketing yourself and making your brand name be the school with 14 national titles, when the number we actually have is very questionable and in dispute. Do we have to put 14 on every damn tshirt we sell? Damn that guy who started adding the fake ones. The 14 national title shite was invented as a way of coping with the post-Bear/pre-Saban era. Bama felt its importance was slipping so it invented a self gratifying, elitist image to keep itself relevant in the minds of Bama fans, when in all reality we were irrelevant. We need to be advertising 1992, 2009 and 2011 a lot more than 1920's and 40's titles absolutely no one but insecure Bama fans care about.

And I'll bet you absolutely did not care until rival fans started whining.

Like I said, if you're going to dismiss those pre-AP titles, dismiss the AP and BCS titles in 2014, since the system is "starting over" once again. It's only fair to those who won NCs in the 20s and 30s, right?

Doesn't appear to be a poll to me (I'm trying to find screenshots of all the newspapers naming UA as national champions after each of the Rose Bowl games were played; all I can find is this one for now, but I've posted them on this forum numerous times in the past):

ETA: And here are the rest:

Can you not do the math yourself, home slice? What's 14-1?

Students leaving in the 4th quarter with 7 minutes left down by two scores against Florida in 2009.

Students screaming obscenities in all the school songs and cool stand tunes causing them to get banned (neck, tiger rag, oh-we-oh, ect.)

Yeah. Me and my dad were at the LSU-USC game in 07 when it rained like crazy. The students were chanting "you suck cock" so loud when i went back to watch the replay on cbs you could hear it quite clearly

Saban and Petrino are from the same mold. They're both mercenary coaches who will win a school a bunch of games but to expect any real loyalty when it comes down to it just asking a little much. They're excellent coaches but they aren't exactly upstanding moral guides.

You Arky fans. One is not like the other.

My point is not whether they are legit. It's who gives a frick? Why does the number of titles we have over the course of a century have to define us? Bama is known as the school so insecure with itself that it has more national titles than anyone, and then has to pad it with a few more. Then we not only have to claim a few too many to make ourselves feel better, we have to put these archaic stats on every tshirt with our logo on it. Got 14 is not a legitimate response to any question, ever. Notre Dame fans don't do it, USC fans don't do it. Why does Bama have to be so obsessed with this randomly chosen number?

Yes. There were actually "Fire Les Miles" threads during the 4th qrtr of Jan9th.

Tell me this is a joke. I don't know a single guy in a fraternity that would dress like that. Not only that, we hate people that dress like that.

The booing is what pisses me off. They think it's ok to boo players with recruits on the sidelines, then wonder why recruits don't come to LSU. They are fricking idiots if they think it doesn't affect recruiting.
