I had some great times in the AU student section. But it pisses me off how they over sell every year. When I was there, every student could purchase home tickets. But there isn't enough room for all students. So if you wanted a seat (not even a good seat) you had to get there extremely early.

Then, they would pack in students to the point where even the aisles were crowded. If you had to piss, hold it, because you are guaranteed to miss 5-10 minutes of game time if you go.

At UA where they do a much better job controlling the student section, it isn't nearly as much of a hassle. The only uncomfortable experience I've had in the UA student section was the LSU game last year.

The thing about many of our fans that infuriates me is how so many of them have a completely unsophisticated football only mentality that thinks the entire university is there to only serve the football program. They proudly tell you they've never been to a basketball game at Coleman Coliseum and consider an insult to use any funds on something other than football. The Coleman Colisuem roof could be leaking and about to cave in and they'd say let it fall apart I don't care.

These same mouth breathing idiots constantly bitch and complain about gameday parking and logistics not realizing that Alabama football games are 100 times more convenient than it was in years past with the shuttle buses and designated parking. These people complain because they may have to walk their fat a#### more than a couple hundred yards to the stadium and may have to (gasp)...use a form of public transportation to get to the Quad. These idiots would just assume see the Quad paved over in favor of a surface parking lot so they can walk their fat redneck a#### more easily to the ballgame.

To expound on it, these people also carry a ridiculous sense of entitlement. They think that since they've been buying season tickets for x amount of years, they are superior fans. 99% of them never stepped foot in a class at UA, or any college for that matter. They have no pride in the University, just the football team. Sad, pathetic people.

We are a spoiled bunch with no patience.
And I hate the subpar basketball support, considering we have one of the best coaches in the nation.

The student section is fun, and I would be there in a heart beat if I didn't have another option. But they've screwed block seating up, and it's a lot easier to just sit in my families seats. The biggest downside is I don't have the option of being belligerently drunk going into the game. Those scholarship donors have no problem having you thrown out.

I'm really rockin because I witnessed them both, although I was very young in the 70's, my childhood was spent bragging about Coach Bryant. Now, my kid's childhood is spent bragging about Coach Saban.

I do not like the Auburn fans who put down the NtY, they have been a positive...

NtY - I like these guys, their articles are well thought out.... Re-read the Evan Woodberry article what was UNTRUE? They also allowed Woodberry to post a rebuttal.. Bat shite Crazy folks would only post one side and not allow a rebuttal.


We may not agree with some of his positions. We also believe that the perception of bias will be impossible for the Press-Register and Woodbery to shake without action. We also believe it is incumbent on the Press-Register to address that perception of bias in a constructive manner. But as we asked the Press-Register for fairness we feel it would only be fair to share Woodbery’s response as well as our reply with you .

In 2004, at the height of Tuberville’s coaching reign, the Press-Register installed Evan Woodbery as Auburn beatwriter. Woodbery was not far removed from Tuscaloosa where he had served as editor of the Crimson White, the University of Alabama’s student newspaper. Woodbery’s resume included a short stint with a newspaper in Anniston where he served as beatwriter covering Alabama football. Of course there’s no rivalry between Auburn and Alabama, so there couldn’t possibly be even the perception of a conflict of interest.

Intentional or not, Woodbery’s portfolio while covering the Tigers has been sprinkled with subtle snide comments, curious timing of reports and occasional efforts that caused harm to the program.

Would fans of the University of Alabama who read the Press-Register accept a beatwriter who had little experience and was recently graduated from Auburn? Would Tide fans be content if the Press-Register had hired the editor of the LSU campus newspaper as beatwriter when Nick Saban came to Tuscaloosa?

The answer is no. The Press-Register would not have made those hires and if it had, Alabama fans would have loudly and rightfully demanded a change.
