I thought it was illegal to give away alcohol?
In Baton Rouge its illegal to give away/ sell for less than price after 10. Before 10 it is allowed. Which has created a big drink special scene around LSU. Literally a different way to drink off a $10 bill every day of the week.

Has anyone mentioned Silk Stockings yet? As the name suggests, it's a fairly elegant ambience if you're looking for something a little different than the standard college bar fair.

Thats awesome. Thats how Madison used to be, but it got so out of hand they changed the law to no alcohol discounts of any kinds. Now the bars give away food.

I'll throw up the Dirty Sock in my honorable mentions

Moment of silence for Maxine and Maxine's Tap Room. My all-time favorite bar. Anywhere. Loved that crusty old broad. Loved playing Ding-Ding. Loved that juke box...."MARILYN LOONEY" carved into the back of the men's room door...Maxine saying "Last call for alcohol! Drink up and get the HELLLLLL OUT!"....
RIP Maxine. Fayetteville hasn't been the same since you died.

By far and away my favorite bar in Fayetteville.

In college it was always a good mixture of my local friends that I grew up with and guys in my fraternity. Great place to pregame and then end the night after hitting all of the more popular bars.

Rooster's, Frank and Marley's, and (I will catch hell from some other Ole Miss posters on here for this) The Library, particularly the Boom Boom Room. Y'all can kiss my arse if you don't think the Boom Boom Room is fun.

I went to the Library when I went to Oxford and had a good time. I honestly don't remember the names of the other places I went, Marley's sounds familiar though

I have not seen it before or since. Normally urinals.
Interesting.
I think most bars I've been to have the trough style.

When I was very young I saw a dude passed out in the trough at Cleveland Municipal Stadium during a Browns game.

I mostly stay at the RV so I guess my favorite is my RV. When someone does drag me away though, I guess Bin 612 is 1st and Halfway is 2nd. I just don't do bars.

I hated The Library at first but it grew on me. I usually like to start off at other bars and then end my night there.
eta: All time favorite bar was The Downtown Grill. Place was the shite back in the day (like 5-6 years ago) when everyone used to drink upstairs.

Still kind of bitter over Frank and Marleys taking over Murfs
My other preferences include the Burgundy Room, Larry's, and the Blind Pig

I hear General's now plays rap music; I wish it would've burned down rather suffer that disgrace. I used to frequent there, Roadhouse (which I hear has closed), Nowhere, Walker's, City Bar, and 8e's. Bourbon Street was reserved for those times when you were in a slump and needed a naïve freshman to help bust you out of it.
As far as Columbia, SC goes, The Nut was a good time. Jake's used to be awesome before it closed and then reopened...I think it kind of sucks now. Bar None (more like Bar Fun, amirite?) is my go to spot after midnight. I go to Henry's a lot since it's just a few blocks from my house and they serve my Banquet beer. Good burgers, too.

I don't know if she still works there, but the girl that served the 32oz. beers with the huge knockers always hooked me up. I worked with her fow a while at Amsterdam Cafe, 2002-2004. Also knew another bar tender there who would work at Amsterdam on week days and work at Supper Club on the weekends. The last time I was in AU after the Florida game in 2006, they were both still there

The awesome part about Athens is that there's something for everyone as far as bars go.
I like Magnolia's and Allgood but I'm not always a fan of how crowded both of those places can get, especially on a game weekend. I'd say those two places appeal to the broadest range of folks, though.
For any given night downtown I'm always a fan of Walkers, Blue Sky, Nowhere. Copper Creek is a little off the beaten path but they're a big favorite of mine as well.
