re: UGA releasing GT non-student tickets at 45 a pop

If UGA students aren't as rabid as they used to be, it's because they're choosing the University out of default as opposed to a connection they've felt with the campus. It's easy to just sign the admission forms and register for classes when you can afford HOPE to foot the bill to go to the most well known (see "best networked") college in the state.
I think this sums things up well. Something that surprised me when I started at UGA was the amount of kids that grew up in Southern families, but if the family allegiance was to Auburn/Bama/Tennessee/etc. then that allegiance was maintained even once they began attending UGA. It seemed the choice to attend UGA was based on it making sense because of the HOPE. Had it not been for the HOPE, then those kids would have gone the family legacy route and gone to school out of state. I reckon that coincides with the Yankee-Metro Atlanta deal wherein you have a significant transplant population that didn't grow up living and breathing college football, or if they did it was another school. I specifically knew a few people whose parents went to Alabama and then had their careers bring them to the Atlanta area. Drove me nuts when I realized they cared just as much (if not more) about what Bama was doing on Saturday as they did UGA.

Yes. Undergrad and grad degree in forestry and I work as a forester. A lot of what is crucial to me being able to do my job comes from what I learned in school that is second nature to me now.

It amazes me what asking prices for these are now. I bought a '68 C10 just before I turned 17 in 2005, paid $5k for it. It was a shortbed stepside and while that truck wasn't flawless by a mile, $5k damn sure doesn't buy you anything close to that quality anymore it seems.
I sold that truck this time last year when I moved and I look at various project cars all the time. I'm constantly blown away by what people's asking prices are on even the most rusted out pieces of crap. Too many rednecks watching Barrett-Jackson shows.

1.) '07 Blackout - No doubt about it. I don't think anything will ever top the roar of when the team ran out in black, Kelin Johnson's interception to start the game or the crowd going nuts when the damn Soulja Boy beat was playing for me.
2.) '12 WLOCP - My last season as a student. I hate uf more than anything so I just wanted to go out with a win. I remember not even watching Malcolm Mitchell actually go into the end zone because I was already going nuts.
3.) '11 Auburn - fricking payback. Goddamn I hope we have the second coming of this game this season.
ETA- Honorable mention: '07 WLOCP-Seeing Ellerbe and our defense kick Tebow's arse was awesome. Was also my first time in Jacksonville.

Good for him, it'd be pretty awesome if he can make his way back to UGA in the future. I didn't really know him but he was a couple years ahead of me at Tucker, always was a good guy.

Probably ain't gonna go well.
I'll be there in person Saturday to know for sure. Plan on being drunk and obnoxious the whole time no matter what happens.

To me the assault on traditional tailgating (banning RVs, etc) by pres Adams has taken it's toll on gameday in it's entirety.
This. I remember before North Campus got axed and how crazy things were in comparison to how they are now. The whole gameday atmosphere was a lot more intense. I think now people are more inclined to stay home or downtown and not ever make it to campus.
I don't think selling beer in Sanford would really change much. Hell it may make things worse. As uptight as stadium security is in general they'd be a huge pain in the arse hassling everyone over a fake ID. People would still just sneak stuff in to get around that.
I also don't buy the paper ticket deal either, at least not the usual argument against it. I went to '08 Auburn game that was in Auburn. They had tickets on student IDs and I walked in their student section decked out in Georgia gear with some girl's Auburn student ID and not one of their stadium staff batted an eye at me. As long as that thing scanned a ticket they didn't care who the hell's ID it was. I thought it'd be awesome when we went to tickets on IDs before I realized they'd be a huge pain in the arse about it being your ID you used to get in the game with. If they'd chill on that crap I think the whole ID thing wouldn't matter.
What gets me about the whole allotment deal to students to is how this past season they didn't credit Double Dawgs with hours from undergrad. What a bunch of bullshite. Had they done that when I was in grad school I would've gone postal. Supposedly that was done to give more opportunity for undergrads to enjoy going to games, glad that worked out.

BSFR - May '11
MFR - December '12
Miss it, but not the stress of grad school. The whole Young Alumni ticket deal has been pretty sweet as I've had a lot more reason to make it back than I thought I would.

I work with a guy that went to uf. Yesterday I asked him about the game and he said, "yeah, we choked on a $550,000 cupcake."
Pretty accurate I reckon.

I've always wondered how much of an effect the car accident he was in that knocked him out of the 2011 season had on his career. He may have not have panned out any different had that not happened, but I wonder if he would have ultimately developed differently/better. At very least I guess it opened the door for Mitchell and others to take his spot.
