Recruiting is nearly meaningless in today's game

I would disagree here. Roster retention is key after good recruiting. If you can't recruit, then you have to go all in on the Transfer Portal.

Different strokes for different folks. Kirby Smart is an excellent recruiter, and is equally good at roster retention. He does pretty well in the portal, but uses it sparingly.

Lane Kiffin, goes the Transfer Portal route, for whatever reason. Maybe he struggles to recruit players that fit his scheme? Maybe he prefers to get players already developed? I don't know.

Either method can work as evidenced by Georgia's continued success and Ole Miss' making the playoffs, but it has to be continued success in whichever method you choose.

If you choose to go the recruit, develop route you have to be a good/great judge of talent and player make up.
If you go the Portal route you likewise need to be a good judge of how players will react in a different environment and how they will fit the culture/chemistry of the team.

I think ultimately it is immaterial. I love Frank Wilson, but recruiting is different than it was when he made his name originally. Our running game has been absolutely atrocious in the past years also. It's difficult to watch at times.

I think the biggest key for OM going forward will be right at the top. I recall an interview where Orgeron stated that his biggest mistake when getting his first HC job at Ole Miss was trying to run a program with the mindset of an assistant or a coordinator. If Golding can delegate and manage the entire corporation (including the exterior forces that every program has) then they will do fine. Too much money and push from the conference and from the OM AD to completely fall off the table.

Austin Thomas was a good pick up. Lane wanted his own guy at LSU so that's why he left. As far as the other guy I'd be concerned about yall's running game if I was you.

I guess if this shite you just posted makes you feel better well then good for you. To anyone else no matter where they hail from, this is just garbled up BS, with absolutely no real meaning or point to be had. RBS, that's some funny shite right there.

Answer the question. Who is to blame for the best defensive talent in LSU history (according to fans on this very site) collapse?

Was it all the coaches? The players all sucked? D coordinator, O coordinator?

How can a team be scouted and assessed by everyone who does this for a living to be #1 in talent and crash and burn so bad? Were all of the scouts wrong, was the recruiting totally off and everyone was really a three-star, was it really Brian Kelly even though he wasn't the one throwing the ball and running the ball etc?

You can't just write a check. The GM and any collective have to get NIL passed thru NIL Go (clearing house) for anything past the 20.5M from rev share.

Actual NIL money has to be approved thru NIL Go and then legitimately earned by the player.

Imagine an Ole Miss fan being a stickler for the recruiting rules.

OM took your best recruiting coach, your GM (Head recruiter) and his right hand man. May get some of your players, too.

The defense didn't collapse, they were an elite unit this season.

All of you asshats said Frank needed to be retained no matter who got hired until it seemed he may not stay.

This is not true no matter how much you want to say it.
