He had more success at what was a better program at the time and he even became a Senator.

Yes. But it was in a time before the internet was so readily available. I remember showing up to the game in 1999 (in Auburn), and I was shocked when they brought 5x as many fans as normal. This was also back in the day when SEC schools put 80% of the visiting fans in the lower bowl.... they were the rowdiest bunch of visiting fans I'd ever seen.... they were chanting Potty Toddy in the pregame while the Auburn band played "God Bless America" and during the national anthem. Totally disrespectful.
They won the game. Next year Tubs returned to Oxford and Auburn fans returned the favor. Absolute takeover of their high school stadium and Auburn won the game.
It was pretty intense for a couple years, and for a 19 year old like myself at the time, it was shocking because I'd only ever known Ole Miss to be a bottom dweller right along side Vandy. They quickly returned to that level after they lost Tubs.
They won the game. Next year Tubs returned to Oxford and Auburn fans returned the favor. Absolute takeover of their high school stadium and Auburn won the game.

That’s to be expected from lower class, poorly educated fanbases. You probably get much the same from the sidewalk Bama fans.

I started a thread about this earlier. I heard that on the radio and had forgot about Tuberville leaving Oxford for better program.
