Co-Player of the Week

Charlie Condon - Georgia

Condon had 10 hits last week, including four home runs and two doubles, as the Bulldogs went 6-0. He had 10 RBI, four HBP, and drew seven walks. He also scored nine runs and registered 24 total bases.

Condon had multiple hits in each game of the weekend series vs. Northern Colorado. The national leader in home runs started five different positions in six games last week with perfect fielding in 17 total chances.

Co-Player of the Week

Dakota Jordan - Miss St

Jordan led the SEC with a .692 average (9-for-13) last week to go along with a .778 on-base percentage, four home runs and two doubles. He drove in 13 runs and helped the Bulldogs to a 4-0 record for the week.

He was 2-for-4 with a home run vs. Southern Miss on Tuesday, and Jordan homered in all three games against Evansville. He drove in four runs in each of the first two games of the series.

Pitcher of the Week

Devin Futrell - Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt’s Devin Futrell recorded the first complete game shutout by an SEC pitcher this season and helped the Commodores secure a three-game sweep of Illinois State on Sunday at Hawkins Field. Futrell carried a no-hit bid to the final out of the fifth inning and struck out seven batters. The southpaw did not allow a walk.

Freshman of the Week

Dean Curley - Tennessee

Tennessee’s Dean Curley registered a team-leading 11 RBIs for the week, which ranked fourth in the SEC and first among freshmen. Tuesday against Kansas State, Curley tied UT’s single game record with three home runs.

He hit a grand slam, a three-run homer and a two-run shot to finish with a Tennessee freshman record nine RBIs for the night. Curley went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Saturday’s series-clinching victory over Illinois and added RBIs in both Friday and Sunday’s wins over the Fighting Illini to help extend the Vols’ winning streak to 15 games.

It’s been insane to watch. Certainly not the best competition but he has been more dominant than anyone I’ve ever seen to start the season

He leads the nation in:

• Batting Average (.565)
• On Base Pct (.659)
• Hits (35)
• Home Runs (12)
• Runs (29)
• Slug Pct (1.290)
• OPS (1.949)

It has been insane and fun to watch.

Obviously when we start facing pitchers that are higher than Q3 and throw harder than 88, his numbers will pull back a bit….but it’s still been incredible so far

Yep, he obviously won’t finish with a 2.000 OPS but he’s way ahead of his pace last year when we faced a similarly bad non conference schedule. I really hope we can play some postseason baseball to give him a shot at some records.

I went to the uga game yesterday. He went 3-4 I believe with 2 line drives to left and a well-placed bouncer in the 6 hole. He’s the real deal

Poor Prager can't win the pitcher of the week.

4 starts
4-0
23.2 IP
0.00 ERA
0.507 WHIP
40 SO
3 BB

That's a pretty filthy start to the season.

I can’t believe they didn’t even give him Co-Pitcher of the week. Absolutely robbed for sure

Going the distance is pretty rare for a starting pitcher anymore. Otherwise I thought Cags might have gotten it for pitching this week.

6.0 IP, 0 Runs, 0 Hits, 4 BB, 9 K's, 98 pitches

I see Prager had 13K's and no walks with only 1 hit on Friday. That is salty!

Luke Hollman went 6 innings, gave up zero hits, zero runs and struck out 10. Looking at the stat lines for players around the league, 4-5 pitchers put up similar numbers this past week. No idea how whoever chooses these awards picks between players like that

I see that, wow. I guess they can't have 4 pitchers of the week and a complete game shutout was the outlier.

Kinda wild how close he and Hollman's numbers are right now through 4 starts

Hollman

4-0
24 IP
0.00 ERA
0.500 WHIP
40 Ks
4 BB
.103 OppBa

Almost identical

We'll see who blinks first. Prager gets Caglianone, Shelton, and some nasty hitters this week.

He was pretty amazing against SEC pitchers last year, so I expect him to do very well the rest of the season.

Do you know why he was redshirted as a Freshman? Can’t see how he wasn’t good enough to play as a true freshman based on everything he’s done so far. Unless, of course, if he was injured.
