He was 16-20 at Western Kentucky and 24-25 at South Florida.

That's like saying Kevin Sumlin and Dennis Franchione were known for turning programs around.

Mullen got MISSISSIPPI State to the number one ranking in football.

That is one hell of a coaching job.

He's a fraud.

His record against top 25 sucks

His schedule while at State was Poo

He can't recruit

He is obviously shady if Leo Lewis said State & OM were offering

I believe that Dan Mullen is AT LEAST 50% responsible for OM investigation

He's probably banged that girl he took with him to Florida many times.

He's just a shady looking bastard

Oh yeah, he has fly Jordans and let's HIS FLORIDA GATORS LOSE TO KENTUCKY!!!!

His act is up. He did well to get where he is, but he's exposed & it will show more soon.

Mullen recruited well enough at State that they are actually relevant. That isn't easy.

Its really not that hard. Recruiting well enough for MSU to compete for the conference title would not be easy, but Mullen didn't do that. Recruiting well enough for MSU to keep their head above water just requires basic competency.

Very few of MSU's hires in the last 50 years had that basic competency.

For most of their history.. Mississippi State has been one of the terrible teams which you say Mullen padded his win totals on.

And for most of their history, MSU has hired really terrible coaches. All you are saying is that Mullen is one of the best coaches MSU ever hired, which is true.....but that doesn't make him a particularly good coach. He's the tallest midget. Well, third tallest. Really 4th tallest if you throw in Darryl Royal.

Agree.

It's funny most of you State fans hate me when my original purpose was saying that MSU could do better & Mullen is junk. I still say the same about LSU, but half of their fan base still loves shrimp man.

And that the public at large doesn’t expect more out of your program.

If I was an Arky fan that would piss me off more than anything else.

Eh, that website has been very inaccurate in the past. What prove to we have that it should be trusted?

Either way, you could make the argument that it looks bad after two games to be on this list. What coach would want to join a program that would put you on the hot seat after two games, whether you deserve it or not?

I strongly disagree. Odom is in year 3 and if we shite the bed, he’s gone. He wasn’t hired by our current AD.

We aren't shitting the bed dude. Jesus. That's the point.

My point is less that website is accurate about who gets fired next and more that it does a decent job of representing the general fan consensus in college football.

Y’all aren’t even being considered an upset of the week nationally even outside that website (UK/UF was), and that says a lot about what the sports media thinks about where you should be in the pecking order. The press defines you. As an example:

I will never forget how more national journalists expected Texas to fire Charlie Strong after year 2 than actual Longhorn fans I know did. It was obvious he was done after year two, and the press expected better from Texas even if tradition says every coach gets three years. The fact that the national journalists thought that is the real moat around that program, the real built in advantage that they squander away every year.

The national reaction to the Arky loss was it basically didn’t matter, which means no one nationally expected better out of your program. That shite hurts as apathy is far worse than outright hatred as recruits want to play for teams that get talked about.

I am not even doing the usual shitty “this is the Rant so I am poking a stick at your pain.” I am honestly having empathy for Arky fans because six years ago the same loss would have made the news and I know how that feels.

When we hired Sherman and won four games the first year we were treated the same way. I get it, it sucks.

I'm not disputing that but I'm not sure why it really matters because most Arkansas fans aren't not surprised. Don't get me wrong, many are very upset about the loss but not shocked. The bigger issue in my eyes would be if we were expected to have a decent year (7-9 wins) and we lost and got that reaction. This is what you will always see with low expectations.

You make a very good point. I guess I didn’t know your expectations coming into the year.

Have a great day.

Mullen will be fine, haters gonna hate and negaGators gonna be negative. Losing to Kentucky suxs but it is what it is. He isn't at UF because everything was going great with the program, it will take some time.

Rightly or wrongly, Saban, Chizik, Malzahn, and Smart have set a new expectation...an elite SEC program must be winning or at least competing for a natty within 2 to 3 years. Granted, UF may have slipped further than any of those four, and it's not a fair or reasonable expectation in any case, but fans will be disappointed with anything less.

I do want to see UF back, if for no other reason than UGA is getting too full of themselves.

Florida fans are not taking that loss lightly. They hadn't lost to UK since the mid 1980s so believe me the clock is ticking for Mullins.
