Ok, then if it is 3 permanent opponents (which is what all of the speculation currently is), what other 2 opponents would you want? I assume aTm would be one, so it would come down to Bama or OM. Would you rather play UF over Bama or OM?

If I had to select for LSU, I would go with UF, OM, and A&M.

I love the Bama game, but let’s be honest, the storyline there really is Saban.

With LSU and UF, there is legitimate hate there where I don’t see that with LSU/Bama. That’s starting to feel a bit contrived.

As an LSU fan who say his first game in 1970, you are correct. The LSU/Bama is more about Saban. LSU and Bama I would say has always been an important game, elevated with Saban, but 99% of Bama fans will say for them it is:

1a Auburn and 1b TENN or vice versa

LSU is clearly 3rd fiddle in among those 3 teams.

can see it now: LSU demands not to lose any of its biggest rivalries, so the SEC gives them Alabama, Florida, and Texas A&M.

LSU fails to win the SEC anymore, and they blame it on the grand conspiracy that is their difficult SOS compared to others.

Or the better competition year in and year out makes our teams better and we beat all of your asses.

Of course you like this as you dont have to play Bama every year in the regular season. The annual opponents is stupid - none of the yearly games are what they used to be, time to send them to the scrap yard.

Of course you feel this way, but most rivalries don't go the lopsided way of the 3rd Saturday in October. I can say that as a Georgia fan, I would agree to nothing if we lost our annual games against Florida an/or Auburn. Those must be protected.

As soon as the SEC becomes the super conference, I'm sure that's the conversation that we are going to have. And on many different subjects.

As an LSU fan, I 100% agree. I listed the 8 games that should be played. You can embrace expansion and adjust but preserve some Tradition. It does not have to be a Binary Choice decision.

LSU needs to play Bama every year baw

I doubt that game winds up being kept

the biggest games that must be kept:

Bama vs Aub
Bama vs Ten
UGA vs Aub
UGA vs UF
TX vs OK
TX vs aTm
LSU vs aTm
Ole MS vs State
LSU vs Ole Miss

SC wants UGA on the schedule more than anyone else, that game is likely a yearly lock

Aub & UF both REALLY want to reinstate that yearly rivalry

LSU - we can make an argument for Florida or Bama to be the 3rd team - Florida makes a lot more sense

and the Bama vs State game is also a big deal - closest campus to both schools I believe & one of the most played SEC games; same goes for Tenn vs Kentucky

every Auburn and Florida fan that I know in real life wants that series back on an annual basis

the ONLY team that South Carolina really cares about playing yearly is UGA

you worried about having a tougher schedule?

truth is, with the new additions and rotation, it won't matter that much

Any system that doesn’t prioritize keeping LSU-Bama on par with the big four rivalry games is dumb and doomed to fail.

It’s not as big historically obviously. But it’s on par with the Iron Bowl for most important game in the country over the last decade. It’s the single biggest must-watch game in the conference. Not keeping it is the business equivalent of shooting yourself in the nuts.

And, yea, we’re debatably their third choice of “rivalry” games, and it’s not clear that they’re higher. (I think most people put A&M and Florida first.) So what. The game is the best in the SEC. If you throw it away you’re a fool simple as

One of these is not like the others.

A&M vs. LSU has only been an annual rivalry for 9 seasons. Sure, there is a bit of old history, but nothing in the same realm of those others listed.

How quickly you forget when UT beat Bama for 7 consecutive years. This rivalry has always been streaky but I wouldn't expect you to actually look at and know the information before spewing at the pie hole.

Of course you want to keep Auburn and Florida cause that means you get to dodge Bama, considering you are 25-41 against them and have lost 6 in a row dating back to 2008, I can totally see why you dont want to meet more often.

LSU has played MS State more than any other team in the SEC. There have been over 100 games between the two. Drop Arkansas and add Ms State.

What does this insane nonsense tell you when the GA and Bama posters here have Auburn playing GA, Bama, and Florida?.....this is a joke.

How would you like this?:

Bama: LSU, Auburn, Georgia
Georgia: Florida, Auburn, Bama

Auburn counts as your easy game.
