This thread is literally saying the opposite.
"Most" fans don't do anything. A loud handful do most of it for every school here.

Posted in true Bama fan insecure troll fashion. Which, if it matters to you, is why people had to go into nobody really caring about softball instead of the usual congrats of the typical alt sports championship threads.
I guarantee 10s of thousands more LSU fans could have named the coach and one player on the team before this year compared to Bama fans and softball, fwiw.

Several tiger fans have said congrats. Only the angry and salty ones are arguing over how the thread was worded.

In what sport? Surely not softball, I assume you mean basketball. I guarantee not on opening night of Will Wade's first season. Or the season before in Jones last year. Absolutely no shot.

You do realize this perception of Bama fans is shared by many

I congratulated my brother in law in text after I read this thread. He literally responded "LOL oh thanks."
Congrats, guys. Very happy for those girls. And you girls too. <3

Yes, obviously

You can't be serious at this point.
LSU's basketball attendance increase in from 2015 to 2016 was bigger than the number you gave for softball attendance. I gave you double attendance in my estimate. Conservatively you can triple attendance in basketball for most schools for those marginally knowledgeable of the team.
Hell, Bama basketball is shite and, to go back to my own anecdote, I'm willing to bet half the Bama fans I know could give me the starting lineup of the team, and 80% could name one player. 95% the coach. Maybe 10% has attended a game on the last few years.

This argument is silly - but no I don't think more than 25-30% of LSU fans could have named a single player on the basketball roster on day 1 on the 2017-18 basketball season.
Basketball is more known and followed anywhere. It's on TV more, it's talked about more, etc. Obviously. Even at Alabama where softball is a big deal you still have to willingly look for it outside of the WCWS. That's not the case in basketball.
It's a secondary sport and every school has it's 2-3 secondary sports that their people pay attention to (well, most do).

Well yea, but you started it.

Maybe not, but even 15% is ridiculously more than any fanbase and softball.

Yes, hence my position and the absurdity of yours.

What absurdity? I never said Alabama softball had more fans than LSU basketball.
My point was Alabama softball touches more Alabama folks than most schools secondary sports do. And it touches groups that aren't usual "college sports" fans (older folks and specifically women/girls, and in turn their moms and dads). Gymnastics the same way.
Let's put it this way - Alabama softball has a bigger following than 80-90% of division 1 college baseball programs.

You said there was absolutely no shot that 10s of thousands more LSU fans could name a basketball player than Bama fans could name a softball player. That's an absurd opinion.

You said nothing of the sort, but I have no problem with this opinion. I'd guess that if it's true it's because most schools only really have one "important" sport. Hell, LSU softball probably can say that for 60%. And I read the name of a softball player today and still couldn't tell name one player.
The top 25 baseball attendance is all more than Bama softball, so I'd lean more to the 80%, though. Which is still good relatively, though I wouldn't be bragging if I was #26.

This is all I said.

I didn't say the 2nd part (or didn't mean to imply it) about compared to Bama people naming a softball player. That explains the disconnect hahaha. That would absolutely be an absurd argument, I agree.

Well I'd do a poll of LSU fans to get to 20k (ie 10s of thousands) that named a player on the bball team if the bet was lucrative enough.

What sport are we talking about here? I’ve been at the Derby all day. Won $16 million.

I've got bad news - your horse ended up not winning. You actually lost $16M.
Luckily you had the good Bama fan on scooter gif so you can probably survive.
