We all poke fun, but DeBoer has put multiple QBs into the first round of the draft.

He continues to recruit top level QBs to Bama...

Eventually he will win here. Hes a players coach which means hes got to have the right group of guys to do it.

Saban waa a machine. You did what he said or next man up. Thats why we looked so similar every year.

DeBoer has to have players that naturally want to do the right thing and thats hard to find in the NIL ERA.

well when you lose 4 games every single year at a program like bama I guess up is really the only direction left you can go

I mean it's definitely a flaw in his coaching style.

Especially in these times. Its going to be hard to find, but guys like Germie are what we need. The problem is you recruit a kid then they become a millionaire.

he has won there, somewhat, but not at all near what you're accustomed to/expect/entitled to.

Running backs are not DeBoer's fault. None of the RBs he recruited have played.

We have missed at RB in recruiting. Obviously he did tremendous work with TY to get him into the first round.

Pretty sure that is NOT what being a players coach means.

IMO that is the exact reason that you don't want a "player's coach" that requires players to be self motivated. They've already received their reward. They need someone to kick them in the arse to make sure they realize that they still have to work.

Being able to run the ball isn’t just fixed with turnover of a roster. It’s a culture. You guys this year will look a lot like we did when during BK era.

The culture there is fine. Wommack is a hard arse coach. DeBoer has changed his hardness for sure.

We are going to be really good this season.

Well yeah, he throws the ball a ton and they don't run much at all.

I hope we get the offensive line problems square soon because Crowell is going to be insane.

He doesn't run the ball much, even when he has a good offensive line. Grubb and DeBoer have always been pass-heavy; that's just who they are.

You will need literal elite quarterback play to have real success in that system, and they will need to pick their spots to run the ball. Their offense will live and die by how good the quarterback is.

I agree. Thats why Keelon will start.

Their RB at Washington had 1300 yards by the way. It is possible. But their passing game was so lethal it helped open lanes.

We were close last season but couldn't throw deep. That was the difference.

I only ever hear this from the same people who predicted that DeBoer would never be able to recruit, win a playoff game, or beat LSU while he was at Alabama.

You know, the same people who predicted tE deCLinE for a decade before being blown out twice by the next coach after Saban.

Exactly and there are a lot of those kinds of people here, aren't there?

And the QB went in the draft at number 13. What am I missing here?

Eta: I know a lot of people are going to troll this thread. I am asking genuine questions here. I also think DeBoer is a good coach. This thread is bringing up questions for me though.

People point to his performance that year as evidence that DeBoer/Grubb do run the ball, but 1,195 yards across 14 games is like 85 yards per game.

And he was basically the entire rushing attack, the next guy up had like 200 yards all season.
