Dumb way to lose. Good on Texas gal for hitting that meatball.

Yep.

The batter could. There is no rule that you must drop to your knees at strike three.
They probably didn't call it because the play was dead when the umpire's mask. Had that not happened, it's textbook batter's interference. She literally was walking across the plate as Atwood is trying to throw to 2nd.

Because she thought it was a ball/walk.
I honestly thought every ball was a strike and vice versa

Kavan got the call on that strike, definitely.

Makes no difference what she thought. I think I heard a commentator say she did that trying to avoid the obstruction which is really dumb.

No joke: it’s progress for women that guys talk this way about women’s sports now.

This is cause for significant concern.

I'm not so sure Tech wasn't actually the beneficiary of the umpire's mask hitting Atwood's arm, because it meant play was dead, which means no batter interference, which would've meant the runner is out and game is over.

Have these clowns ever officiated a game before? What's going on tonight?
I thought they were very good.
I assume you're pissed about the runner interference call. Understand that the refs on the field called the runner out. TT coach challenged based on his knowledge of the interference rule. That's what a coach is expected to do. The review peeps had no choice but to go by the letter of the law and it took forever because they didn't want to call the girl safe but, at the end ,they had no choice. The rule is stupid but they made the call that they had to. Period.
ETA:
There are a lot of downvotes by those that apparently have no supporting arguments.

Disagree....they could have looked at it and said "Uh, nice try Tech but she was out by a mile"

They could have if they ignored the rule.
The slide was initiated before the ball was in glove. There was no "out by a mile" option.
As I've said, I didn't like the call but it, by rule, was correct.

This was an issue earlier. And there’s just unfortunately not a judgement call to be made. I hope that changes. You’re as likely to benefit as be harmed, I guess, but it turns games on silly technicalities.
