Was Tom Petty even a casual fan of the Florida football program?

I doubt 95% of florida fans could spell Tom Petty.

Florida is heartbroken over this loss. They were running down a dream of a championship but they experienced a breakdown. There is just no room at the top of the SEC as long as Alabama is running the show.

Yes. Said at Super Bowl the Gators we’re only football team he pulled for.

He was a mainstay in Gainesville for years until he hit it big. Not sure why this keeps coming up, the Gainesville connection has never been a secret.

If I lived in Gainesville I'd hate the Gators even more than I do now.

Exactly. The rest of the posters on here don't know shite about Petty nor his Gainesville history.

I mean, I know Mike Campbell, the lead guitar player, played a Florida Gators painted guitar at one point.

I guess that speaks more to Campbell’s fan hood, but I’ve always considered Tom to be a Florida fan based on the stories I’ve heard from those who knew him before he hit it big.

Florida fans know more about Tom frickin Petty than non Florida fans? You do realize Petty is, you know, internationally famous, yea?

We aren't talking about JJ Grey and MoFro here. Tom Petty.

Revisionist history much? He left Florida for California as soon as he could find a way across the country and never came back other than to pick your pockets.

Yes he said in interview for his super bowl show that he and the rest of the band root for the Gators. And Mike Campbell (guitar player in the band) had a guitar with the gator logo on it. Now ask a question that's not retarded op
