I'm guessing there weren't many options. Went to a Cardinals game last weekend, and can you imagine that at Busch Stadium it was a bunch of AB beers? I didn't get any beer anyway.

Peyton probably just told someone "get me a beer" and it showed up. I bet AB employees are tired of this crap.

This is like words are violence.

You didn't really answer my question as to what you mean by cancel culture is an attack. You told me how you thought a group of people coming together to not buy a product is not a form of cancelation, but you didn't explain what you thought it was in any kind of pragmatic way. Attack is a rather "violent" word. So what kind of violence is being done according to your defintion of "cancel culture"?

As far as your second paragraph, I was merely letting you know that a mass number of people not buying a product they were buying before does cause harm to people who are mere bystanders. I never said who was to blame, but just pointing out that your not buying a product (which is a form of protest by the way) does cause harm.

Regarding the BLM movement, I'm assuming you are white and from the South. Maybe I'm wrong there.

But has there ever been a protest by Black people in response to what they perceive as racism in society that the majority of white people in the South at the time thought was appropriate? I think we know the answer to this question and it's why I'm not so quick to judge.

It is one thing to say MLK was great and what he did back then helped society now. It is quite another to have said so at the time he was actually doing it.

I think the vast majority would agree. But the fringe, most extreme 5% on both sides dominate public discourse

The problem with this line of thought is that it ignores the fact the spectrum shifted in the early 2000s. What was moderate left ideology before 2004 is now viewed as fringe right wing extremism. The idea we should enforce our boarders, enforce our laws, teach traditional core subjects in school are things that Joe Biden championed in the 90s. Today those things make you the right fringe.

Today I couldn’t tell you where the extreme right is or who is its voice. Segregation is now a progressive left movement. Really what is the fringe right today? You shouldn’t use government funding to kill your unborn child in certain states? If you have a dick you shouldn’t use the women’s bathroom or play women’s sports? What else? You shouldn’t mutilate children with gender assignment treatment? I mean that’s fascism today.

Modern liberalism and modern conservatism branched off from classic liberalism.

I’m about as far from liberal as is possible. I’m was pointing out that this type discussion belongs on the political board not a sports discussion board.

Why do people get so upset where things are discussed? Can't tell you how many times people have whined "wrong board". The mods will move it if necessary.

I still drink Bud Light, Ultra. Nothing to with the stupid gesture that the corporation did but the local AB distributor is owned by some good friends of mine. They had nothing to do with that. They have been in business over 75 years, employ dozens and dozens of people, are deeply involved in the community with sponsorships etc.
The last thing I want to see is their business being harmed by something completely out of their control.
Hopefully some of this backlash against corporate AB will settle down so that the local distributors can maintain their businesses.

I know a guy that has a bunch of the big distributors as major clients - his insight:

Sales are down closer to 40% than the 25% being reported (the number he gave was 38%)

Layoffs ARE coming unless the ship turns in a hurry

The distributors are very angry (we all knew this) and lawsuits are coming (we have suspected this)

My insight - BL/AB has lost a large portion of their consumer base that they will never get back, at least 10%, but likely over 20%

This is one area where we can make a difference, it just sucks that a lot of good people will suffer…

If AB would have just stayed out of politics then none of this would have happened.

The Manning Foundation or whatever it's called donated money for kids to chop their dicks and tits off.

Must be a new thing for the passing academy.
