Chiz was terrible at discipline and many of his guys took terrible turns.

It wasnt Chiz's fault that he was a thug

Had Dyer played for an Urban Meyer coached team, he likely would have finished his career with his indiscretions swept under a rug to never be spoken of again until some reporter dug it up.

Isn’t that exactly what happened to him under Gus at Arky State?

He was kicked off the team before playing a down for a gun violation. So, no.

First off we arent the "war eagles"

Well then what's that big-arse bird y'all turn loose at every home game...a pigeon?
I'd like to see y'all let that thing go, over in Starkville one game to see how long it would take one of them "old boys" to turn his shotgun loose on it.

Had a good year or two.

Unable to discipline himself.

Chiz brought in many questionable characters. Dyer was the perfect example.

Was he thought to be questionable during his recruitment? I don’t remember that but then again it’s been a decade or so.

let's get a few things straight.

Petrino recruited him last minute, but he had already posted a video of a fat chick sitting on his lap while denigrating the Razorbacks and Petrino… Keep this in mind.

He then signs with A state I believe and Gustavo, when the gun episode hit the fan, it was following Gustavo attempting to sweep it under the rug until a State trooper investigator got involved. and an officer lost his job over the handling of it. He was let go from A state.

Gustavo goes to Auburn and in walks Dyer... following some weed, fake weed, etal… He walks out to of all people.

Louisville and Bobby Petrino. Unbelievable, but true...

Sounds like he earned his Perrilloux award fair-n-square.

You mean the gun and drug violation that didn’t come to light until a reporter dug it up long after it happened?

The one where he got kicked off the team on July 30, literally the day before the video of his drugs, gun, and 96 mph traffic stop that happened in MARCH was made public by a reporter?

The one where the trooper got fired for his role in sweeping it under the rug and where Gus claimed to have known about the gun and stop but somehow not the weed?

Every bit of what I just typed is true.

Face it, auburn2eugene threw a rock in a glass house. He absolutely thought the Dyer situation had been handled by the trooper and only acted when there was no way to keep it from going public.

That isn’t to say Gus is Urban Jr. You could likely combine the things every coach in the SEC has swept away and it wouldn’t match a couple of seasons of Urban at Florida.

My question is what became of his high school teammate that got to ride his coattails to Auburn. He got arrested there and never was heard from again. Can't recall his name.

I don’t think he ever did a day for the attempted heist

Dakota Mosley.

Also, Tre Mason is NOTHING AT ALL like Mike Dyer.

Tre has hereditary mental illness. He has great character and was never a problem. He is just battling a serious mental illness that prevented his success.

Dyer is a thug.

Chizik is a good example of the high points and the low points of these emotion-first/cliche/players' coaches, all wrapped into a very short tenure.

He was a very good person who thought he could bring out the good side from questionable kids and succeeded over the short term, but it caught up to him quickly and he was out of his depth.

Due to semi-sketchy coaches under him (but who were extremely energetic and charismatic), he was able to cast a wide net for some of these talents, but he had very few experienced/grizzled/no-nonsense folks to help him keep the prima donnas in line.
