I don’t think it’s a wild claim, the discrepancy just isn’t quite what y’all seem to be implying.

No real issues with Barnes. I don't believe Grant was POY, but looking at his number makes you wonder how on earth Heron was left of 1st and 2nd team.

Bruce had higher rated recruits...so it sounds like Barnes did a better job of coaching up his talent.

Really?

Yes, really.

Bruce did it with:
22nd ranked recruiting class in 2017
12th ranked recruiting class in 2016
16th ranked recruiting class in 2015

Barnes did it with :
54th ranked recruiting class in 2017
49th ranked recruiting class in 2016
60th ranked recruiting class in 2015

Because the SEC coaches don't like yawl. We have a new wave of SEC coaches and even the new ones have no respect for AU.

Seriously, the effort to NOT vote a single AU player to the 1st/2nd SEC team was petty as hell. I can see Bruce & your players coming out and wrecking shite in that tourney this weekend, they'll want to prove a point and they'll make every SEC coach watch it.

In all honesty, our team shared the load so much this season I could see where it's tough to choose a player on Auburn's team as a stand out. Knox walking back to the bench sulking in the 2nd half at Auburn as we pulled away and he disappeared should have disqualified him from consideration.

At different points this season our success rested on 4 or 5 players and their performances. I doubt any other team in the SEC can say that, certainly none that I saw when they played us.

So Barnes sucks at recruiting. BTW, kinda dumb to fault Bruce for brining in good prospects, that's an enormous part of college coaching

I think Barnes is a better coach but recruting is part of the job. This is like knocking Saban for only being able to win with a stacked deck

While I think Barnes was very desrerving of the award, I don't think anyone has overcome the obstacles that Pearl had to deal with. I hope they use this just like the 4-14 shirt to prove where they belong. Not getting a single player on the first team was a slap in the face. Heron and Brown both deserved consideration. Congrats to UT and their coach.
Not really concerned about the SEC tourney. (I hope if we face UA, that we help them make the NCAAs.) I hope that Coach Pearl can use this to motivate the team to a Final Four spot. (No, I don't think that is likely. Maybe next year. I just hope he uses it to rub it in everyone's face.)
Say I am sour grapes, but the level of disrespect was incredible.

Recruiting was much better at UT when Pearl was there. Why isn't he at UT anymore? I member...

Unfortunately, that is the part of the job that got Pearl fired at UT.

Wasn't it lying that got him fired?

There's always a chance that a random Backyard BBQ can go wrong.

That's why I think Pearl is safe at AU, he has more sense than to lie twice to an NCAA investigator doesn't he?

Par for the course for Auburn though, they totally snubbed Chizik & Newton in 2010 too.

I'm just rustling Jimmies on here. I think Pearl is a heck of a coach, and hated losing him. I ran into him in Denver back in June (on the bus to the rental cars...he rents from National...for those stalkers out there). We talked about basketball for a few minutes and he said he thought the SEC was stacked and would get 8 teams in. I asked him how Auburn looked and he grinned and said "we're gonna be good" and left it at that. He was also very complimentary about Knoxville. I thanked him for the United Way work he did for my company and we parted ways. Personally, I love the guy.

That being said, I don't think one can overlook the cesspool that Barnes inherited from Donnie (Gravy Seal) Tyndall at UT.

Looking at the rosters and seeing that UT and Auburn each only lose 1 player means that we could be having this same argument next year.

These awards were deserved, but Auburn doesn't have a player on first team SEC. That's a joke.

Truthfully, it's almost a compliment, in a way. Means Auburn played as a team. Georgia had one on the 1st team, and you saw how bad our basketball team was.
