You have a good running game and a solid defense.

But you're very limited in the passing game and it's showing as teams are respecting it less and focusing on stopping the run more.

UT had 8 yards per play on offense against UTC, 6.9 against NCSU and 9.3 against Kent State. SEC teams have focused on taking away the runs and risked getting burned in the passing game... and UT has had 4.7, 5.1 and 4.5 yards per play against those teams.

Nico hasn't been able to make teams pay for focusing on the run.

The defense has been doing worse the last couple of games as well. They held teams to 3.8, 2.9, 2.3 and 3.3 yards per play in their first 4 games. The last two? 5.9 and 5.0.

UT's also been even in turnover margin the last two games instead of positive in turnover margin like they were in the first 4.

And it's not like Arkansas and Florida are world beaters this year.

That sounds like a whole lot of excuses for why your QB isn't playing well.

Another explanation is he might not be that good.

Highly touted freshman QBs tend to improve as the season progresses. Our biggest issue in the passing game is our left tackle Lance Heard. Nico has to play around him.

I agree that our passing game needs to improve though. It's the only thing stopping us from being the best team in the country right now

I'm calling for a breakout performance on Saturday against the gumps.

Maybe the easy OOC schedule inflated your opinion of your team.

The only thing keeping Bama from being the best team in the country is not losing to vandy and having a good defense. Too bad the OL is the most important group in CFB and yours sucks

Do they?

First of all... he's not improving so far. He's been declining statistically.

Second of all, I tried to think of other red-shirt freshman QB's who started from day 1 in the SEC. First one I thought of was Aaron Murray for UGA. While he was up and down over the course of the season, he wasn't really that much different at the end than he was at the beginning. His worst game of the year was probably the bowl game against UCF (88.5 passer rating. His next worse was 130 against UF which was also in the second half of the season).

Next I thought of David Greene. He wasn't as highly recruited of course, but did start from day 1 as a RS freshman. He was by far better the first half of 2001 than the second half.

What examples do you have of RS Freshman having a big positive jump in the second half of their first year as QB?

Stop crying like a little bitch already.

It was an early game on the road with a freshman QB and it's not like our coaches ordered that hit or anything. Goons are going to goon.

You can talk shite because you won the head to head, but I'm pretty confident we will finish higher ranked that Arkansas because Heupel is a better overall head coach than Pittman. You only are playing well right now because of Petrino, a man who you foolishly kicked to the curb years ago over some petty BS.

Tune in this weekend to see what a fully dialed in Tennessee squad is capable of.

This is the third consecutive season that Tennessee has started 5-1 or better. We are on a tremendous upswing under Heupel.

According to a sizeable contingent on the Bama board, you're in for a world of hurt if Ty takes over for Milroe
