So they’re paying for the sports package and still aren’t choosing to watch Missouri. Got it, thanks for the clarification.

I’m just messing with your school. Mullen never bothered me besides being a yankee douche and dishing it out but not being able to take it

My concern with Clemson is that they’ll become dog shite in the SEC (esp once Dabo leaves) and their viewership will go way down. I bet you if you looked at their viewership before Dabo, it was in the doldrums. Plus, South Carolina is not a big enough state to carry two SEC states.
FSU—sure, bc their numbers are good even when they’re down and Florida is a big enough state to carry two SEC states (arguably, big enough for 3).
I’d want UNC, Va Tech, ND (mostly to deny Big Ten their viewership), FSU—in that order.

I can’t tell if you are being sincere about understanding this or just trying to take a shot at MU.
When Slive was doing the deal with ESPN back in the 2011-2012 timeframe, it was all about cable. Missouri (and to a much greater extent A&M) brought a ton of cable households with them. Sports IN GENERAL were a big draw in both states with so many pro teams etc., so most of those households paid for a sports package already.
If ESPN/SEC Network could get added to that package, ESPN and the SEC would get paid. You didn’t need overly rabid fans in those states. You only needed enough fans that would demand it. That is EXACTLY how it played out.
With the slow migration to streaming the business model will change, but a decade ago the addition of Mizzou and A&M allowed Slive to negotiate an extremely lucrative deal for the SEC.
But you either understand business or you don’t.

That’s during the Matt Luke era too when the program was dead and going through bowl bans. Much higher now.

Thats exactly why most knowledgeable fans laugh when a poster replies that USUC already has the state of SC. USUC fans/alum control Columbia and some/most of the SC coast, The rest of SC and western NC belongs to Clemson.

quote:that 'article' counts all SECN/SECN+/ESPN+ games as 'zero' in its 'average'
Those numbers are absolute dogshit.
here's a week by week listing from SportMediaWatch that lists all the games that have trackable viewership numbers for 2022 -
https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/college-football-tv-ratings/
Carolina had 6 games on the SECN alone in 2022 - which was not able to be counted as anything other than "zero" - a 7th game was streamed on ESPN+/SECN+ - so only 5 games plus the Gator Bowl were the only games that viewership could be tracked and yet still divided by 13 games -
12/29 Thur 330pm ESPN - Carolina v Notre Dame - Gator Bowl - 5.77M viewers
11/26 Sat 12pm ABC - Carolina at Clem u - 2.32M
11/19 Sat 7pm ESPN - Carolina v Tennessee - 4.87M
9/24 Sat 7pm ESPN-U - Carolina v Charlotte - 177K
9/17 Sat 12pm ESPN - Carolina v Georgia - 3.0M
9/10 Sat 12pm ESPN - Carolina at Arkansas - 1.52M
Gamecock football on ESPN/ABC averaged 3.49M viewers -

quote:Exactly. It's about national brands. Clemson is a national brand. North Carolina is not. I hope the SEC isn't stupid enough to add North Carolina and Virginia.
