If it is anything like the pros, the guy running from the sideline is not the guy who marks the ball. The guy in the middle of the field usually marks it and the sideline guy puts it down where that guys foot is, not his own foot. Hard to see where a guy went down from up the field.

You have obviously watched little football or have no clue what you are talking about. Then only reason the side judge would put the ball down is to mark the spot. The head ref would then transfer the spot to the hash. This ref was marking the spot where the player was ruled down.
Whether it is the correct spot or not is up to debate since the video starts late. Still makes no sense to look at the sticks before placing the ball.

True, but you obviously don't watch football. If the guy in the center of the field is closer, he marks the spot and the sideline guy puts the ball down where he marks it. Don't act like you know what you are talking about.

Then the guy on the sideline would be looking where the guy in the middle of the field put the ball. He also would not stick his foot to mark the spot, then twist it as he starts to move the ball forward, pretending he's just marking it at his toe.

Yeah, that's the shady part. I could see a missed spot...the ref getting mixed up or whatever...but he does eyeball the marker. First Down...Roll Tide.

That's the funny part and there's a reason the dude who uploaded the video didn't include the play.
I was screaming at the official over just how bad the spot was. The bama player fell over the first down line for a clear firs down. I don't know why the dumbass official originally spotted it so far back though.

Ok so your opinion is that the side judge is placing the ball on a spot to mimic the spot in the center of the field?
What the hell is the point of spotting the ball on the sideline if it is already spotted in the middle of the field?

I agree. Looked like he was going to make a shitty spot to begin with. Looked like he got well past the original spot.
