I dont see why anyone would get so upset over something that is in no way harming them? Are you all afraid that now large black men are going to want to come kiss you?
There may be a helluva lot of things in life that people find repulsive. Doesn't at all mean that they feel harmed or threatened...only that they find it repulsive. It's a pretty basic concept, really.

Lanier, Yes it does matter. TV is all about ratings and you should speak up.
Someone else mentioned vitriol and I think that is the key to this discussion. Gays have been accepted for a long time now, but they still don't understand the difference between vitriol and distaste. No one is afraid of gays. There is no such thing as homophobia. You absolutely cannot make someone like something they don't like. That is it. Get over yourselves and get used to being made fun of like everyone else. I am not going to apologize for the 5% that hate you because they hate everything.

For everyone complaining about Michael Sam crying when getting drafted, that happens quite often. Big, bad, heterosexual Jadeveon Clowney was crying when he was selected. Before his name was even called.

Covering Michael Sams celebration on being drafted was fine with me, but the extended coverage of him kissing his boyfriend was over the top and too much. I'm sure one can surmise what part of the crowd I come from.
At this point, I feel a bit sorry for the kid. Sure it was an emotional moment and, deservedly so. That said, the ensuing display was exaggerated and showed poor judgment by what (as evidenced here) will be viewed as "in your face" flaunting of his sexual orientation. While he, in my opinion, showed a lack of maturity and decorum, what ESPN did is far worse. They hyped his recruitment all day and in the end, got the sensational images they could have only wished for...and, exploitation at it's finest.
I personally feel that between a lapse in judgment by Sam and the shameless, repetitive ESPN video that his ability to achieve his goals have gone from difficult to near impossible. Playing in the NFL is tough enough as is and his role got a lot harder yesterday and, unnecessarily so. I wish him the best but in all honesty he would have had a huge segment of the overall fan base, orientation aside, pulling for him had the "gay thing" been an understatement rather than the focal point.

It's just a kiss. Christ, people
Good for him getting drafted. Hope he does well. I wish people would stop concerning themselves with what others do in their bedrooms.

BUT WHAT WILL WE TELL THE CHILDREN?!?!?!?!

They weren't in their bedroom. Most we're ok with the first kiss, it is the over the top cake kiss and foundling that was unnecessary. Espn did this for ratings pure and simple.

Or maybe the ones finding it REALLY DISGUSTING (ex. "Can't stop throwing up.... This shite disgust me")have latent desires and secretly are not turned off by it?
Would you rather watch Michael Sam sodomize his boyfriend, or your parents engage in a little bit of anal themselves? You have to watch and hear everything. If you truly can't disassociate yourself with sex you're not apart of, and find gay sex to be some abomination to God mentioned to be just as much of an abomination as eating bacon, I fully expect you to rather watch your mother climax with your dad's penis in her butthole.

Remember when he said he didn't want to be known as:
"Michael Sam the gay football player"
but rather
"Michael Sam the football player"

Just because he didn't want his football career to be a footnote of his sexuality -- or his sexuality to be a footnote of his football career -- doesn't mean the two are mutually exclusive.
It is what it fricking is, man. Life's too short to obsess about this shite.

I think he mentioned that he was gay. I'm pretty sure he didn't describe how he likes to power bottom for his boyfriend or anything...
